We are almost at the end of 2018, and this video is still the ONLY tutorial that was able to help me. Someone just gave me a PRISTINE late 2009 MacBook, with 10.6.4 OS X. I didn't want to give it to Goodwill, so I thought I'd wipe it and keep it for myself (though I just purchased myself a 2018 MBP for Photography). I didn't expect it to be hard as far as resetting it, then I stumbled into this video. Thank you!

I've been a computer tech for 15 years. My friend's MAC Pro Snow Leopard I worked on recently was the FIRST EVER mac I've ever worked on. Plur, this might be the BEST F***ING TUTORIAL I'VE EVER SEEN for computer repair. Especially when considering that Apple (per the norm) doesn't want peeps to know their tricks. Your tutorial worked flawlessly, and got me on track, which means a lot because the MAC is absolutely backwards to me. I hate this BS os, but I sure love you! Thanks!
@dantaeplur10 жыл бұрын
Thanks man! Yeah, I'm not a Mac person either. I'm use to the older Windows, running DOS. I found this Mac trick, just by fucking with my high schools security system and whatnot. I'd always be in the terminal, shutting down shit. But I would try old DOS commands, and they would convert to the words you see in the video. But, as you hear in the video, Apple sends you a receipt (atleast they did to be when I reset it). The school didn't keep the purchase receipts. So, what I did, was reset my schools Macs, and take them home. They tried to take me to court for theft, but I had the receipts, and the serial numbers matched, and there were no files in the Mac to trace them to the school. So, I got a shitload of free Macs that year. But yeah, Apple is so limited, their devices are simple. I'm an Android user, and would never get an iPhone. Sorry Apple, I like my torrents too much. I'm glad the video helped though! Share the video around if you don't mind, I'd appreciate it!
@MarkJacksonGaming10 жыл бұрын
That's one hell of a story. I still play the old MSDOS games, albeit on an emulator. They guy I did the work for was complaining about the OS and internet being slow. I did your trick, that spruced the OS performance right up, but Safari was still DIRT slow (taking some 5 minutes to load a page if it did at all.) Navigating forums I finally discovered there was a compatibility issue between Safari and the OS, I uninstalled it, slapped on Google Chrome (which works like a charm) charged him 100 bucks and he was happy to pay. I too have an Android, and I too spend more time on Kickass Torrents than anywhere else on the web. Anyway, thanks a bunch, keep sticking it to apple :)

Its simple, it allows you to (A) Bypass password (B) Setup a new admin account - once that's all setup, go into Settings>Users>Delete all other users (if you don't want to keep any of the files) and you will essentially have a brand new install. You will save a ton of time and get close to the same results of doing a full factory reset if and when you delete all the other users and their files. I will admit a factory reset is a better method. ALSO - this method is a bit of an exploit that's why Apple hates it, it allows anyone on any mac to make a new admin account and gain full access...I am not sure if on newer versions of their OS this has been patched but I am willing to bet they have...thanks for the video and good luck all IF YOU WANNA SKIP THE VIDEO: 1) Reboot and press command + s when in restart mode (black screen) 2) Type /sbin/mount -uw / (then press ENTER button) 3) Type rm /var/db/ .applesetupdone (then press ENTER button) 4) Type reboot (then press ENTER button) You're all set, enjoy the welcome video :)

I would like to update you all, so that some of you can skip a step. If you try to call Apple, and ask them if there is a way to restore your Mac Book without a disc, they will tell you no. That it can't be done. It isn't possible. So, I decided to make a fake, absurd issue, about an iPhone, in order to be directed to a "higher-up" in Apple. Once on the phone with him, I "resolved" my fake iPhone issue, and proceeded to ask HIM if it were possible to restore a Mac without the Disc. He, also, said it wasn't possible. So, I asked if I could send him a link, for him to watch, and tell me if the method would work. (I sent this video, but did not tell him it was mine.) He said this: "Oh, THAT video. This guy is a scam, it really doesn't work, he just has really good photo shop skills. Don't worry, Apple has been looking for him, we don't want this kind of thing on the Internet. " Of course, I couldn't hold in my laughter. I said: "Wait, how long have you been looking for me?" Apple Worker: "Excuse me?" Me: "I said, how long have you been looking for me? I mean, you are a computer company. You should be able to trace my IP address easily. After all, I am just a guy with photo shop skills, right?" "So, it really is you. This whole thing was a joke, wasn't it? You didn't need help with an iPhone." "Why the fuck would I have an iPhone in the first place? Come on man, anyone that knows the slightest bit about technology, has an Android." "Well, I am suppose to ask you to take down your video, it violates copyright laws. I can go through the list if you like." Me: "Yeah, and Apple, selling all records, profiles, and information of every iPhone user, to the government, violates the peoples right to privacy. So, no. I will not take my video down. Sue me. But first, you'll have to find me. And if Apple, one of the largest computer companies, has been looking for me, for over a year, and hasn't found me yet, I'm not worried. You won't break my code. And if you find a way to make KZbin take it down, a timer goes off, re-uploading the video into another KZbin account. And another. And another. So, try your best, because I will enjoy every moment of it. Watching you run around like headless chickens. You want to fuck with me? Fine. I've made my move. Your turn." And I hung up. So, apparently, this video is in violation of copyright laws. Well, fuck it. As long as it's up, Apple is mad. And if Apple is mad, then I am one happy son of a bitch.

That's not actually restoring your macbook, it just tells your mac that you finished the apple setup and then allows you to create a new admin user. The original admin is still there along with all the files. It's good for getting into your computer if you've been locked out and starting a user that doesn't have a bunch of crap starting with the computer, but it doesn't restore your computer if you wiped your disk. XD
@dantaeplur10 жыл бұрын
You are like the 20th person to comment this. It has already been established. And if you want to be technical, all you have to do after making the new user, is delete the old users partition.
@nambinhvu10 жыл бұрын
Dantae Plur Sorry about that, and I guess that's semi true, deleting the other user account, though it doesn't make it a clean install, there's still other stuff that would be left behind.
@dantaeplur10 жыл бұрын
Yes, well, without the proper install disk, this is the best way. Makes a new user, while partitioning the Hard Drive. Then, delete that partition. That's about as close as you'll ever get, without a blowtorch and some gasoline.
