Restore a vintage mora knife made by KJEriksson +100yrs ASMR

New vintage Mora knife brought back to life.
This video is the knife restoration of a old KJ Eriksson with more then 100 years.
I completely repair it so that it can be put to use for another 100 years.
Also made a handmade leather with in the traditional Nordic style.

I finally found 1 of the last few no.1 laminated blade blanks left n the states..also just opened it . Putting it n a handle from a no.1 special i had loaned 2 a friend n he messed up blade.

The blue sandpaper. What grit is it. It's also possible to do the whole sharpening, plus polishing process, with sandpaper only as well. And ending with the strop.

I don’t remember exactly but I think is around 40 or something like that. It’s a roll of sandpaper for a hand sand machine. For sure it’s possible to for every way with sand paper.

@@Oldmora The blue ones are with zirconium? They are better resistant to heat. Then again, handsanding does not effect this as much as an electric sander. I like the paper method quite a bit..as you know.

I confess i don't remember. I remember that they are made by Norton. When compared to the cheap brown ones, they last way more time. I have this one probably for 3 or 4 years and it still cuts very well.

Awesome! What kind of oil do you put on the blade to stop from rusting? Something that is safe to cut food with?

I don't use any oil. But i am very careful with moister management. I never sheath a knife without wiping it clean. Also crucial, is to ensure that the sheath does not have any moister. When ever i go out and get rain, when i am back home, i live the knife out of the sheath for a couple of days to ensure the sheath is fully dried.

Should i use glue or just let the little metal ring do its job n hold blade in handle ...?

The rivet tube as been used since the 1970 and it’s a good way to fix the blade. The problems start when you start to remove the blade and but it in again, it may get damage in the process. I would would use some epoxy. But keep in mind the next time you want to remove the handle you will have to destroy it
