Follow along with Ves as he shows us some simple and effective techniques to restore the uppers, midsoles and soles of these classic sneakers.
This video demonstrates a basic restoration process from a quick cleaning, a simple repaint and how to get rid of yellowed soles. Not only do the kicks look good but thanks to Angelus Deodorizer they also smell fresh.

I need help whether to decide which type of paint to get. I want to paint the fabric layer of my air max 90 in black. Should I use leather dye or leather paint, I don’t want to shoes to crack or look bad so which one should I use?

When you are working with that Fabric material you can mix our paint with our Angelus 2-soft fabric medium. Mixing the 2 will help the paint adhere on that type of fabric materials. When he was touching up the uppers, from the scuffs and scratches, what paint was he using? Still the mixture of 50-50 flat white and 2 soft?

The uppers do not require 2 Soft. As long as the area is prepped properly with acetone our Leather Preparer and Deglazer then you may apply just the paint to the leather uppers.

Yeah after doing some proper cleaning if the stains are not gone then painting over would be the next step.

Okay so at 8:16 the part that is taped up on the back heel is yellowish on my shoe. Not sure the type of material that part of the shoe is but it’s also the same all the way around to the front. I was curious if there was a way to make it unyellow? Or do I have to paint them back to white?

Is there a sealer you would recommend for a matte/factory finish that you would recommend? As a final step after the finisher

Honestly that seems like overkill. If you prep the shoe correctly and apply light coats of paint then the paint alone will be durable safe. For extra protection and to give the custom a nice matte finish then we suggest our Matte finisher. Shake the bottle well and apply 1-2 really light coats. Besides that, you should be good to go.

Great work! This has been peaking my interest . I want to get into customizing for my 10 year old son. Know with my limited knowledge , wouldn't it be best to bleach the soles before any painting. Obviously you made it work. But it seems like you're risking your work by relying on the tape to keep the sole bright from a mistake. Just my thoughts. Still great work

I dyed a pair of Pantafola Doro Sneakers that I bought online, they sent me a message saying I can keep the sneaks and there giving me a full refund because one of the shoes turned yellow. Ok I dyed them and the dye was great and soaked in where I would think paint wouldn't soak in and lay on the surface
