I restored this old antique Haw River’s sock knitting machine. It’s now making socks again. Works amazing!

Wonderful to see. I work in knitwear industry. I bought an old Stibbe Monk jaquard machine. But that is a huge circular machine. I work to get it running now

Thank you! I put my heart into this machine. It’s the same machine my Grandfather ran when it was brand new. He grew his hosiery business from one machine to thousands and employed thousands of hard working Americans. All that is gone now but I’m glad we held on to this machine.

Hi I used to be a mechanic on sock machines , mainly the english and italian variety. I am restoring one of these machines but am missing a sinker cam for the elastic. i have restored one previously that did patterning via sinker plating and is now operational . Fantastic to see these machines running again. is there a way to contact you privately outside of KZbin?

@Ruckus_Longhorn I worked on them for 42 years and then I got into big cylinder cloth machines. Made cloth for jockey underwear

I also have a machine like that. I think that's great. Which oil do you use for the bearings and which for the needles?

A regular 30w works the best

This is a “Haw River’s” It’s been upgraded with the “Russell True Rib”. Very good machine. I have some for sale if you’re interested.

A bit to much oil. It will go everywhere.

No way. It actually needs more on the dial and cams.
