Most top-quality grand pianos made before 1939 were either rosewood or later mahogany. If they are black then while some may originally have been black, they are likely to have been refinished.

This is lovely. The fashion for black pianos is absurd. If you would like to put them in touch, my resonant tuning enlarges the sound of the instrument so that the Model O can give the power of a model A or B, and ideal for church use where for congregational singing warmth of harmony in the home keys works really wonderfully. Small instruments cease to be small when tuned harmonically, kzbin.info/www/bejne/kJDIameih66lnNE being quite an absurd example.
