Restored Marantz 5220 recording test

Marantz 5220 tape cassette deck hooked up with Rega table for recording test, 1060 and 1070 integrated amps and 2 pairs of speakers DYNACO A25 and EPI 120. All Marantz and speakers are from mid 70's.

do you daisy chain the two amps together so that you can output the same source to two separate pairs of speakers? if so, how is the imaging when using two pairs of speakers at the same time?

+Jason Montell Good question Jason! Yes the amps are daisy chained by tape out output of 1070. Some fiddling with volume knobs of both amps let me find a very satisfying and interesting effects for most genres of music. I need to mention that my room dimensions are far from ideal for showing the full potential of this setup so in most situations it acts just a nice looking collection of audio equipment and I end with headphones through 1060. Whenever I have a chance to sit in the right place though, to listen to both sets it sounds HUGE to me. It certainly creates a lovely imaging with a great separation and placement of all instruments. I never planned to buy and run both pairs. It was rather a random buy. When listening to them separately I found that Dynaco lacks something what Epi possess and vice versa. Thanks to you, I decided to have a little session this morning (neighbours at work). Listening now to Larks Tongues In Aspic and I am amazed again how well both sets can sound together. yeah i used to daisy chain a 2230 into a 2238. with a stacked pair of jbl l-100 and 4311wxa. imaging was terrible. There was no centered localization or any depth whatsoever. You couldnt help but to hear the sound coming from the positions of the speakers. i have a video of the setup on my channel. I also have a video of my current set up, marantz model 32 into a 2230 feeding technics sb-7000a
