You cant clearcoat over the polished surface, it contains wax and the paint reacts really bad with waxes. And for the clearcoat to be able to stick to the surface Im afraid you will have to sand it down again. If you dont like to sand them down again you will have to put on some hardwax to protect the surface. Good luck, hope you find this comment helpful :)

I usually go 800, 1000, 1500, 2000, and then 3000. They usually sell a pack with all of those at autozone for like 4 bucks! Then you put compound then follow it with polish and then hard wax! For that super better than new finish! You don't need paint.

Suppose to clean them with IPA (rubbing alcohol) let dry and then clear. Also polishing isnt required when you plan on clear coating them. Finish sanding with 1000 grit, 1st coat is light/medium and 2nd is medium/wet and done 👌🏼

I had the same clearcoat issue. You went to fine on the sanding. You want to go 800 - 1000 max. Any more and it's to fine for the clearcoat to stick. Apply the clear coat and it will clean it up and go clear. ONce the clear coat dries, 2000-3000 wet sand and then polish for best results

I just stumbled on this after seeing your paint job. This is exactly how I already did my headlights. That 'cracking' is 'orange peeling' of the clear coat. I already tried a light 2000 grit sanding too it, but I think I'm going to try 3000 wet sand, and if not, probably sand fully and buff again. It's still a lot better than before, just not perfect yet, but clear. Toothpaste idea is bogus.

The 3m heavy duty headlight kit works good too. I I didn't buy the one for the drill but it removed all fog and it still looks good after 2 years

You can either sand the headlights and polish them and youre finished. Finish with 2000 grit. Orrr. Sand and clear coat. You can use the polish after leaving the clearcoat to dry for a few days. But never before the clearcoat.

Yo Sonny I detail cars for a loving. High end car lambos,Audi etc etc.. what we do is 800 grit wetsand, then up to 1000 grit wetsand and then 1500 grit. Then polish and they will last a long rime. Clear coat won't last to long. Good luck. Keep up the comtent.

No the reason why it happened is because the polish is oily and the clear doesn’t want to stick to it just sand it down make sure there isn’t any oil on the headlight and clear it with out polishing it before spraying clear ...... I’m an actual professional ig @egokiller9 to see my work

After the 1500 wet sand, you should've just sprayed the clear on first in light coats, let it dry for 24 hrs, then wet sand again with 2000, and then buff em out!

i really like your RSX man! i owned a 2002 Rsx Type S for 10 years! and that car will forever live in my memory's i had so much fun with that car! they are very fun and very nice cars! and plus they don't make them anymore! so shit man you could possibly have a collectors edition car right there :D they will some day become very rare because they were only made for 4 years. so i could only imagine if you kept the car extremely nice it might be worth more someday..... you never know :)

Should have used 2k clear. 2k actually has a catalyst. 2x on the other hand is just 1k clear (no catalyst) but it covers twice as much hence the “2x” name. 1k and 2x cure slowly so they tend to crack with weather changes. 2k cans are a little more expensive but worth money bc they are for more professional applications.

Clean headlight before you spray! Also when spraying clear cost if you spray too soon in between coats or go to heavy, paint wont have enough time to flash off and will cause cracking.

Next time you don't need all that lol. Just wet sand with 3 different grits and use water and you could skip buffing. Or you could skip wet sanding and polish with a good compound. I'm a Think Tank Company that also gets into Detailing.
