Restoring 1963 Ford Consul Lowline MK2 Part 1

Amir and I had just taken the Consul off the trailer and thought we might give the old girl a turn over to see what would happen. After checking the oil condition and that the engine was free she fired up.

The Consul looks great, much better than expected and the chrome handles and trim all look to be there, certainly no major restoration on that one.

Trev, There is a bit of welding to do on the underside but for it‘s age she is in pretty good shape, Better than me that‘s for sure lol. Cheers Dave.

Hi Dave Your Consul Mk 2 . With that oil tank filter breather , makes me think that was poss registered / sold abroad first . As the First mk 2 that I had. Had the same set up & that came from Italy.

James, I gave the car to my wife as a present and i would restore it for her and she sold it a few weeks later! The guy that owns it now has given up on it and is trying to sell the car on, I hope you watch in to the channel from time to time. Cheers Dave

Dave be cearfull pouring petrol into the carb,years ago a mate of mine was doing that,car backfired, made him jump split some petrol on his self boom he was on fire ,3 degree burns,3 weeks in hospital, has really bad scaring to his chest and neck now,it was only the quick thinking of another mate their he pulled his coat of to smother the flame or it would have been a lot worse,!!
