Before you dive into the seadek, I've heard that it leaves gaps in the hatch tracks. So you might want to get a small piece to start with to see if it will match up. I'd like to see a recessed foot control well on the front deck for your trolling motor.

I’ve been restoring old bass boats for the last 15-20 years. They are never fun when it comes to rot. I’ve only ever removed one cap and that was on an 89 Ranger that probably should have been burned lol. With lots of sweat equity I managed to resurrect the old girl. Once the foundation of the boat was solid I set my focus on the transom. The boat was completely redone, everything was new including a new 250hp merc and a ghost trolling motor, all new electronics. I remember the day I took it to the lake to test it. It was epic, she ran like a dream, was fast as hell and handled really rough water like a dream. Was it worth it...yes! Did I make a profit....no! Anything to do with a bass boat is expensive. I think I could have saved a ton of time and money and just bought a really nice used boat but I was committed and giving up wasn’t an option. We used that boat for the entire summer that year and I sold it in order to move on to another build. My favorite part is literally breathing new life into something no one ever thought would be functional again. In the end, I can’t think of anything I’d do different aside from very minor things and that boat set into motion a boat restoration building spree that I have truly loved. Keep up the great work, I really like the series. Need any help holler. I’d be happy to assist.

So the GF and the boat are both keeper's 😆. Definitely put the sea deck or eva foam in the bottom seating area. In my opinion and I've been doing this same thing for the past 12 years, in order of priority for bass boat fishing it, trailer#1, outboard #2 battery compartment #3. If those are solid your set!

Props to you! I have restored a few Lunds that were left to waste. I would leave the tanks out until you get all the wiring sorted Incase you have to lay I there and do splicing or rewiring. I would think once you have a motor that turns over and all you pumps are replaced and rewired you would be able to install the tanks back in. Then work on getting the motor running from the outside of the boat. It would hurt to see if you can get it to turn over and do a compression check on it.

@paintballerj55752 жыл бұрын
You have to be careful with putting that heavy of carpet in and old boat like that. Because if it wasn’t spaced out for that thick of carpet, then it will make it very hard to open and close the lids. But I definitely agree with the sea deck in the cockpit and the heaviest carpet that you can install and still be able to open and close the lids

Combination of carpet and Sea Deck. Carpet the deck of the boat, that keeps water spray down when running. The Sea Deck in the cockpit area for faster draining and drying of the cockpit floor. (That's a Rick Pierce recommendation). The vapor vent hoses should extend to the bottom of the boat to remove heavy gas vapors. Some boats have bilge fans connected to each hose to mechanically purge the area with fresh air, as well. Don't paint anything you're only asking for paint flaking problems later. Pressure washing with a industrial cleaner is best for all the dirty hatch areas. Expect a little stain in areas, it's an older boat. Buffing the boat's gel coat with 3M polishing compound will bring back the mirror shine to the exterior gel coat. Hope this is helpful information 🍺🎣

I wouldnt recommend carpet if it can be avoided, its a pain in the butt to clean compared to seadeck or other similar products, doesnt retain water like carpet does, and there are much more options for color schemes, different feathers like an infloor ruler, logos, stuff like that that can look really good with seadeck vs carpet. coming from someone that did carpet, I wish I did seadeck and will likely be pulling out my carpet to use seadeck this winter.

Hey man I have a old bass cat and I highly recommend leaving one of the gas tanks out unless you are planning on making long runs .
