Be sure to look for Sarah's books on Amazon! :) www.amazon.com/stores/author/B00EB0E8OE/allbooks?ingress=0&visitId=6e6dfc3b-932f-4921-923f-0191dd799b51&store_ref=ap_rdr&ref_=ap_rdr In this short series of videos, Sarah & Gabriel Chrisman work on restoring the plaster and paint in their historic home. The videos in this series represent TWO AND A HALF YEARS of work!
Video 1 of 8: Sewing room - Sarah explains the basic process of plaster repair and then shares a bit of philosophy while working on the plaster in her sewing room.
Video 2 of 8: Sewing room (cont.) - Repairs on the sewing room continue. The magnitude of the work involved starts to become visible; historical discussions are interspersed with more work.
Video 3 of 8: Sewing room and Den: The sewing room is finally finished. Repairs start on Sarah's den. Difficulties with paint stripping; Gabriel repairs a door and discovers a fun detail about its lock.
Video 4 of 8: Den finished, Guest room started: Repairs, painting and re-stenciling finished on Sarah's den - a.k.a., the Owl room. Sarah explains why owls were chosen as a theme for this room as a tribute to Athena and the traditions that inspire neoclassical buildings.
Video 5 of 8: Guest room: Fine details of stenciling the guest room with blue roses. Discussions of stenciling in other historic buildings.
Video 6 of 8: Guest room and Library: Guest room finished, library room. Sarah paints more roses… and more roses… and more roses… trying to make the library evoke the feeling of Alma-Tadema's famous 1888 painting, "The Roses of Heliogabalus."
Video 7 of 8: Master bedroom: After reading an article on wisteria bedrooms from around the time our house was new, Sarah decides to turn the walls and ceiling of our bedroom into an indoor garden. Our kitties enjoy this immensely.
Video 8 of 8: RECAP - All the rooms previously shown in the series in a short before and after re-cap, set to music.

The long, hard, and dusty work has definitely been well worth it looking at these results side by side.

Exquisite!!! We had the chance to buy and restore an old Folk Victorian home. Some someone bought it before we even made an offer. They didn't restore it and it breaks my heart. You are doing such a beautiful job. Thank you for sharing

As a fellow historic home restorer I have really appreciated your preservation series. I must applaud you both oh your Herculean efforts. While we had a very leaky roof at least we had a roof. We had to do a lot of plaster work too, but not compared to you. Our 1850’s house had been occupied so had working plumbing, electrical, and heat. It all had to be updated but at least we had it. Kudos to you both. Keep up the good work and keep posting the videos!

My goodness, it's all so beautiful I'm not sure which room I love the best but I am partial to ferns so I would say the bedroom. What an outstanding and tedious job you both have done. My hat goes off to you. It's perfection!

Sarah, you two have done beautiful work. Thank you for sharing your progress with us. I cannot wait to see the rest, especially the kitchen. 😊😊 We have an 1890 Foursquare Farmhouse with 9 foot ceilings and the walnut woodwork that was never painted over. PTL. .Saved us a lot of work. 😉

Very well done. Coming from an old builder, as long as a building has good bones (a good foundation and structure) it still make a fine house.
