Hi, we are Harriet and Mauro and in February 2021 we bought an abandoned smallholding in Castellón, Spain. In these videos we share our life as we restore and improve our little stone house, learn to grow and preserve our own food, and bring our 4 acres of farmland back to productivity.

I really love the look of your old beautiful roof. So happy you did not put on new tiles. The kitchen is a bit like mine, I made it what it needed to be. I didn't get a new fancy one put in. Doing it on my own. like you two. It is not perfect as Mauro says, but it is warm and organized now. You probably needed a break . For a moment I thought you were in Italy. The long boats are about 3 hours north of me , before you get to Venice. Beautiful. Like you I love old things. My kitchen has a few drawers because I bought some pre made cabinets for that purpose, but most have hand made curtains. I like them. If they get dirty I just wash them. I like the homey way it feels. Your home is very warm and inviting. Thank you for sharing more of your progress and life.

Now that your stovepipe isn't constrained by the old chimney, you might want to add a section, or even insulate that section. If you ever have problems with the wood stove smoking back, or not drafting enough, that might be why. It is recommended to be about a meter higher than any part of the roof that is within about 3 meters.
