Great to see old machinery being fixed up and put back to use and the pride you feel doing the work yourself. And with your knowledge you get too save a ton of money. Very cool find.

I have that exact CASE backhoe. I let a yardworker use it and he ruined the shuttle transmission. I'm going to look over your videos with interest. I have the shuttle rebuild kit with seals and bearings etc. Thanks for this information!!!!
@mikekisch55634 жыл бұрын
its a pretty simple transmission. You should be able to rebuild it. I do recommend getting the service repair manual. Also I dont know if you have checked, but if the Electric clutch is stuck or engaged then it wont move forward or backward. good luck. im here if you need any help

Had one of those. Great machine, lot of power. If I was re-wiring it I would bypass the safetyies, which as I remember was that the shuttle had to be in neutral. Had some issue with the starter circuit. Keep it simple. Also the breaks are a real POS. Never could get them both working, and they tend to lock up.

Back in the day you could take your Rams in and exchange them for reconditioned ones. I guess that no longer is available. I had a Furakawa rock breaker hanging off the back end. Mine was a John Deere. I was making $80:00 an hour back in the 80's but the breakdowns were a pain and expensive. All the best with it mate. Cheers from Perth Australia.

Keep working on and filming it Mike! I'm currently in the process of rebuilding all the cylinders on a smaller backhoe I use on my JD4700. That Case would be a big step up!

You need a panel light to start magnetising the field windings for the alternator to produce any electricity. Also a starter switch would be a nice luxury..

The old 580's are good machines but very top heavy. Just keep the hoe boom swung uphill and the buckets low. All of them I've been around have been turned over at least once. Not hurt, just turned over.

I bought an old 580ck this summer to clear some area on my very steep property. I go verrry slow . These are definitely not made for steep inclines. If i dont back up the hills , i have to use the hoe as a wheelie bar...even with the front counterweight. Pucker Factor 10 when side hilling .

You don't have the transmission out you have the power shuttle out of it. The transmission in that machine is just like a farm tractor

Man. As far as the alternator. I’ve had equipment that was like that. And the alt was like 550 bucks to replace. So I ended up putting a medium size solar charge panel on the roofs. Never had a problem with them starting. Even using the machine all day on off on off. No prob. Just a thought. Good deal by the way.

As long as you're not using lights or a heater that's actually a great idea. Thanks!
@Mad.Man.Marine3 жыл бұрын
@@morecowbell20 ya for sure. Even so. Sometimes it’s cheaper to just buy an additional battery. Especially in those instances where you can’t even find a replacement alt.

That's exactly what keeps mine charged, solar trickle charger from inside the cab (not covered in snow). The only batteries I didn't bring inside this winter (-40 a couple nights) were the ones on my 580C.

did you contract haul it home with the guy for $500.00? You really could get a trailer to haul it for that. Might have to work on it though. You want good trailer brakes, because that baby will push you around. If after you run it a bit, if you unload the controls too quick it knocks the seals out. Be smooth with stopping and starting movement.
@mikekisch55635 жыл бұрын
Ok I'll be sure to keep that in mind about the forward and reverse.
