RESTORING AN OLD CEDAR CHEST PART 3 (STAINING AND CLEAR COAT)

In this video I wrap up this long and difficult project of restoring an old cedar chest . To finish off this series I used minwax dark walnut stain on the toe board trim at the bottom of the chest and then used deft brushing lacquer to clear coat the entire cedar chest to seal and protect this beautiful old cedar chest.

I watched all three videos. I have my mom's Lane waterfall cedar chest which I am sure is from the 40's (at least). Now I know how to find the age. I was going to chalk paint it but I think the refinishing is highly doable. I don't have the curves on the bottom to navigate. I am a little concerned about the small worn areas on the edges of the top but they are so small I may just try to fill them in. Thank you so much for sharing this!! The finished product is SO beautiful

You watched all 3 ! Bless your soul! I appreciate that more than you can imagine! I was really wondering if this project was going to be too long and boring for most people. But you know what , if your the only person these videos helped ill consider it a overwhelming success! Dont be afraid to tackle this project , your absolutely correct it will be a marathon not a sprint. What i do in situations where im feeling in over my head i write down everything i need to do in order and this sort of gives me a outline of how the project is going to play out .
