Restoring An Old Diorama - Freshen up a 21 year old HO Scale Model & Scenery

We rescued an old friend; the diorama of our first structure kit, Big Lou's Grill. Originally built in 2002, it's since been neglected - it was time to freshen up this 21 year old diorama.

OK, your cleaning up of your old kit has given me some ideas. I have a hand made house from occupied Germany after the war. It was sent by my late aunt to my mother, who was 10 at the time. The "doll house " has been through a lot over the years, and in desperate need cleaning and restoration. Thanks for the tips, now I might be able to do something about it.

The Woodland Scenics Dust Dabber is another option for cleaning - just pinch out a 1/2" bead of the gel and roll it across the dusty surfaces. As the bead gets dirty, you can knead it to expose clean surfaces. When finished, just discard.

Great job Doug! Just think 21 years ago if someone were to tell you about 3-D printing. 😉 I have some Athearn blue box rolling stock I need to give this treatment. They have a lot of sentimental value and will always have a place on the layout. A little weathering and the average Joe won’t see the difference between it and a Tangent car. LOL! Thanks for making these videos. We really appreciate it.

It surprises me if you scratch build a building, especially one that becomes you first in your co venture,, and you didn't put it on the layout. I took art lessons for about two years and I framed every single painting I did . I was asked why since they were not particularly good. I said and felt that , since I painted them and I liked what I had accomplished, why not frame them and hang them. Their still hanging. 😂
