I have done the same to an identical chest of drawers which was also put out on the street to take away! I had to replace the top plywood, which had been damaged by water and also had something heavy dropped on it, but thanks to B and Q cutting sheets of plywood to measure if you need, that was very easily done. An interesting thing was one of the drawer bottoms was a bit short and didn't reach its slot in the side timber - maybe in wartime it was use that or nothing? I didn't replace it, but put in an extra baton to support the end firmly. I felt it was a little bit of wartime history.

Nice job. The actual 1943 Utility Furniture catalogue states that the furniture came with a 'dull wax finish' (no sheen, as such). Looks good, though, well done!

Thanks, I did start to panic a bit when the bicarb lifted the ink and spread it about 😬

Great job. Background music is a little loud though.
