Mine just broke half an hour ago exactly the same way lol... Ordering a new wheel and replacement pads from Amazon. It's crazy how cheap Razer mice are, but at least they fixed the wheel clicking issue where you could put WD-40 on the tiny button to fix it.

Just tried this. My deathadder had a ribbon wire also connecting the two halves... which unfortunately snapped 8 of 10 leads when I split the two halves to open it. Sigh.

the stuff you scarping off the side of the grip is the glue that melted out of the side. Usually happens due to the warmth of fingertip

it's sweat, grease, dead skin and dirt. the sides are plastic and aren't glued on, atleast on the deathadder.

So I had an issue where my scrollwheel was jumping up and down whenever I tried to scroll, and I tried unscrewing it and the screws were just really tight. so I eventually gave up and put the sticker back on. and then I figured... maybe it was just dirty, so why not just try and blow the dirt out of the scrollwheel. so I blew on both sides of the scroll wheel and it instantly fixed it LOL

Using that metal spike makes me cringe like crazy. If you're looking to do little to no damage to anything you need to clean with a small point, I'd normally reach for toothpicks; inexpensive but still do the same job.
