Why Not go all the way right? Let's just take things to the next level and just make this car look brand new again. Take it back in time to when she was a young Subaru, Looking FRESH, no more old grimy, greasy parts Literally anything and everything that I can powder coat I will. Plus it sets the car apart a little so it dosent look like every other Subaru WRX STi out there! I still have a handful oil parts to knock out but most of the big ones are done, OH And I can drop the heads off at the machine shop tomorrow!

Good call on the valve springs, people always over look doing those. They do wear out over time and should be replaced anytime you have the heads apart. Also will help with valve float.
@Smeedia
@Smeedia 4 жыл бұрын
Just dropped the heads off this morning, should be able to get it together in a week. Figured it would be better to replace everything at this point to eliminate any more problems 🙏🔥
@DanielKellert
@DanielKellert 4 жыл бұрын
If you test valve spring pressure and all spring pressures are within spec.. They don’t need to be replaced and will not float... unless you’re running a very high amount of boost and are always in very high rpms. Springs will not have enough pressure to pull the valve closed before the piston comes up on the compression or exhaust stroke. Good to get stiffer springs when running larger cams and more boost to prevent valve float at higher power levels like you said. But stock sti springs will be fine until you break the 500whp range at around 25 pounds of boost. Never a bad idea to swap them out like you said but too stiff of a spring is also not good! Love the vids man keep it up 🤙🏼

I powder coated a few of my engine bits when I had mine apart last summer, I passed on doing the up-pipe bracket mostly because I'm not sure how well the power-coat will stand up to the heat from the turbo. I figured there was also a reason it looked like it was made from stainless and not just normal steel.

You can 100% see how much stiffer the BC springs are. Less coils and thicker material. Will run good with your turbo and cam set up! Only suggestion I have is to port your heads, just so you can run a little bit more power on less boost. If not just crank the boost up and that turbo will force as much air as she can in there! Love seeing other people DIY’ing their own builds! Keep it up man! I decided to start my own thing on KZbin and I’m just getting started so vids are a little rusty but thought I’d give it a go! What camera are you filming off? I’m just filming off my GoPro and find the quality isn’t bad but isn’t that good either :/
