That steering wheel looks soooo good. I have red stitching on my Zanzibar red 996 Turbo, and it looks so sharp. I love that you have the red marker at the top of your steering. I want that on mine....because race car! These 996 turbos are so underrated, such awesome cars! I am dreaming about putting an unobtanium titanium exhaust on mine.

Take some SEM surfacer in a can and spray on the pinholes and take your finger and smear it in them. Drys decently fast and sands easy.

I’ve had those lines come up on my RS aswell. Maybe it’s not the paint but the hood itself? 🤔

First, you need to increase your painting speed. It also looks like your air pressure is too low. If you increase it, atomization and stroke speed should improve. Apply a base coat on the edges first, then overlap paint strokes, as @illegalLettuce mentioned, and then apply a control coat (keep the gun much higher). In a cold environment, you might need to use a fast solvent.

Sounds like those was third gear pulls. Was it because my WRX dyno was done in fourth gear? Just curious, by the way, is the transmission still living?

For the low spot in the left quarter why not build up the fiberglass vs bracing or filler? Also gotta ask…what are your plans for the fuel door? I’d think that area would need to be addressed before getting too far ahead.

The hood problem is it’s showing your work. It wasn’t sanded enough imo. Those lines are literally the primer under the sealing primer.

OK so, let me start by saying don't take this as negativity but more constructive advice. Before you lay down the base coat the primer should if been sanded through the grits (the higher the better) then when you layer the base it should of been 1 guide coat , 1 wet coat and finally 1 heavy flow coat with an overlap of 40-50% depending on the psi and paint flow. Then the gun setting - you need to open the needle to allow more paint to flow and turn up the psi as the coats you put down didn't have enough paint hence the orange peel. The grazes your seeing in the paint on the hood are from too heavy grit used for the primer sanding. 90% of a good paint job comes from the prep work before the paint, epoxy primer is harder to sand and should be used under a grey primer for protection not for a prep before basecoat,it's always better as a beginner to lay too much paint and fix a run than it is to not lay enough paint then having to repaint the whole panel. The issue your having are not with the temps but more the process. But all in all your getting there and painting isn't something that comes natural over night. I've been painting for 35 years and even I learn something new most days. We are all on the learning curve buddy

We should be able to get a solid finish on everything. The only way to get better at this is to keep getting after it. Handing it off to someone else means I gotta pay someone to do something I can learn to do 😅

those weird lines look like sanding scratches sometimes these can be hidden by fine dust so you can sand and use guide coat and it wont show up because it full of fine dust and then gets cleaned out either by your prep clean or the paint sinks in as it dry's. very hard to see these in the prep stage best way i have avoided this is to sand clean then apply guide coat again and re sand then prime and check while its wet and still glossy to see if they are still there. sometimes it all good the nit show up once dried and its annoying. shes coming together you may even be able to wet sand those out and re clear and it will hide them enough that you wont notice unless to put your nose on it
@Smeedia
@Smeedia 19 сағат бұрын
Will 100% do this method going forward. I sprayed it down with some air but guessing the dust gets compacted into the sanding area indentations. Steep learning curve with body work and painting. 😅 but only way to get better is more practice 🙌

@Smeedia I can only imagine, honestly since I own a 2019 Impreza there's very little I can do to it, if I had an older Subaru or a WRX/STI which obviously have a large aftermarket I would want to do all the mods and probably go into debt modding it to go to the Moon XD all jokes a side though I definitely enjoy what I was able to do with my impreza it ain't the fast car on the road but I've definitely made it a fun daily A to B car

I'll like this just for the music choice during the hood priming & painting b-roll alike, it's so much better than the same shit everybody uses like when you transition to that played out beat at about 5:45. I'm assuming the other stuff's from somewhere I suggested but I could be wrong, it sounds like it though. But c'mon dawg, still ain't using masking tape to make a pour lip on the paint can? It's a lot less messy. I'm no body guy and obv the camera isn't quite doing it justice, but it looks like those lines on the hood can be buffed out.
@Smeedia
@Smeedia 19 сағат бұрын
All from the same site 😅 it’s so difficult to find anything decent and usable. Some people are suggesting it could be in the hood itself. So I’m Just going to re sand and paint the whole hood 🫡
