I'm still amazed with the results. I had a ton of fun and learned a lot. Thanks again.

Another very enjoyable video. I don't think his mic was working. One tip I learned long ago about the Brownell crowning tool, if you use it in a drill turning slowly you get a 100 times better finish than turning it by hand. They will sometimes chatter no matter how you hand turn them and even when it looks good to the eye it will still have microscopic chatter marks in the steel when turned by hand. A slow drill speed with light pressure gives a superb finish every time. The 7 lb trigger is terrible by any standard, I am sure those groups will really tighten up with a better trigger and that flash hider was not helping his groups either. Keep them coming , very enjoyable content.

He’s not a loud mouth like me and since I’ve always worked with one mic I didn’t catch his volume. Learning curve I guess! Great tip about the drill! With how tight the muzzle was and the remaining burrs it was pulling the cutter in so I was having to pull and turn. Definitely different than what happened with my 10/22 crown. If you had to guess, how much of a difference do those micro chatter marks make to accuracy? Don’t worry, I won’t hold you to it!

@@nobodytraining It's not so much in this instance but sooner or later you will run into a barrel that will simply refuse to not chatter while hand turning the tool. It is the make up and harness of the steel and it is frustrating. The speed of the tool while cutting overcomes the tool wanting to chatter and leaves a very smooth and professional finish that is also more concentric as you can hold the drill motor in position much better than trying to rotate the tool by hand. This really comes into importance when you only have a certain amount of crowning you can do without running out of barrel , like a flush cut on an auto pistol for example. You cannot afford all the chatter marks here and having to cut the barrel back to clean them up. I don't know that the micro chatter effects the accuracy since I have never let one out of the shop that way but just thought I could make your life easier when you eventually run into a barrel that refuses to cooperate. The Manson crowner is by far a better tool for the job if you need to ever get serious or want the crown to be truly square and perfectly concentric.

@five-oonsene545 This is why I like doing these videos. I learn something my way and then have cool people like you give a professional perspective and tips for a better outcome! Too bad you aren’t out here in Utah. We could have some fun!

@@nobodytraining I have thought the same thing myself on numerous occasions. We would have a blast for sure. I certainly don't know it all, am still learning every day but if i see something that i think would help i will offer it. Have a great weekend and can't wait for the next one.

I did a Kidd spring kit and took the shear and trigger to a stone and shortened up the contact of the two and polished the crap out of it and it's way lighter and smoother. You'd swear there was a high end trigger in it now. If I had to guess it's probably 1.5lb pull. I do nothing but bench rest since in in wheelchair with no trunk control T5 para. Mine has Adams n Bennet (now green mountain) 18" barrel. Arken 7-35x56 MRad love it for shooting this thing. Crazy thing is it loves cci blazer 38 gr. Tried other brands and it don't like the coatings it comes with and doesn't like low fps loads. Tried sub 900 fps, 1050's and it likes those 1200+ fps. Will have chronograph this week to see what it's doing.

Ok, you win. I own a few of the popular 10/22's (some are very limited edition types)and I have to say, you put together some great videos. Kudos.

So the Borecam I have is the Lyman Borecam Pro. It’s the first generation and was about $250. It has since been discontinued since the gen 2 came out. Gen 2 is almost $100 cheaper, comes with 5 different sized 90 degree tips for different barrels AND you have the option to look straight down the barrel. The Gen 1 is a fixed 90 all the time. Brownells is currently out of stock on the Gen 2 but it’s being sold on Amazon and you could probably have it by Monday. Amazon $160 Hope that helps!

To avoid damaging the crown by cleaning from the muzzle, I drilled a hole through the back of the receiver to allow inserting the cleaning rod from the breech end.

Scope and ammo will be key. Check into a new trigger group. Mcarbo or Volquartsen may have a spring and hammer.

@@nobodytraining I am not getting any comp from them, just I know it works. I fought with the factory hammer and sear at 6.28 Lbs. Lots of time honing and got it down to 4.5 Lbs. LOTS OF TIME. For a few bucks over $70 I got a "Power Custom" Titanium trigger and a set of their matched Hammer and sear and a "Wolfe" lighter trigger spring. Pull is now crisp, smooth as silk and 2.1 Lbs with a center of the trigger pull and 1.75 Lbs with the meter at the bottom of the trigger guard. Used factory Sear to Disconnector spring. Also used "TriggerShim" shims on the insides to take any side wobble out of the hammer, sear and disconnector. Very LIGHT coating of CLP. No more jerking the trigger. Still need to do the Bolt deburing and check the headspace.

Cost vs time is something we all need to consider! I'm all about the learning aspect. Even if I never do it again, it's worth it to know. And to see if I CAN do it. Pride does play a small part 😂
@davej3487Ай бұрын
But, best bang for the buck, Ebay has Ruger BX trigger groups for between $68 and $80. An easy drop from 7 Lbs to 3.2 Lbs. But FYI, the BX hammer, Sear and Disconnector is wider and WILL NOT fit most non-BX factory and or aftermarket triggers. The sear has a much better shape that fits to the hammer much better and this is where the drop in pull comes from.
@davej3487Ай бұрын
@@nobodytraining I ended up paying over $100 for 4 different Arkansas stones. I then spent the time to reshape the hammer and sear like in a lot of KZbin Vids. So yes, I did learn some. But I was so amazed at the drop in pull of the Power Custom set.

You have the wrong size pilot for your muzzle tool. You ruined your pilot. There are a number of sizes, rimfire is different from centrefire in .22 cals, check at Brownells if you dont believe me.
