Nice lights. They look so much better with a lick of paint. I’ve got quite a few of my mums old tinsel Pom Pom lights but my favourite are the “Crown Spike” Winfield set, my shades are still very rich and not faded. Great videos 👍🏼

I am freaking out in the best possible way - I do this too!!! Just as a hobby, but I LOVE restoring the old incandescent string lights. Just for fun; a hobby. I'm just starting to watch your videos, but I am so excited to know that there are others that are interested in these. So thrilled!! I can't want to watch all of your videos.

We had the second from smallest ones of these when the kids were small in the 90’s and I can attest the third foot pain when stepping on these. They always seem to drop off and roll away only to be stepped on by unsuspecting innocents.

Ooof! 😫 Got a set somewhere, will do a video on them eventually. 👍

What are you using to paint the books? The best way I found to take paint off the bulb is to take the bulb out of the holder and drop it in bleach, just a little bit in a bottle top, comes off nicely

Conrad Bulb Paint. Comes in 6 colours. Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange, and Purple. If you need a link, let us know.

I remember having similar lights in my bedroom - i got them from a market for 99p or something - i shall never forget standing on a shade that fell off - with barefeet one morning , very painful .....and no the shade didnt break .

These shades break you, it seems. Ouch! 😲

I have been wondering about how fiddly it would be to keep dead LES bulb bases, breaking out the glass and putty, and soldering in lamps from new push-in sets (without the plastic bit) and gluing with a blob of epoxy. This seems a possible way to keep the supply of LES going.

It's very possible, but very finicky. Going to experiment on bigger E10 bulbs first. 👍

out of interest what paint do you use for the bulbs

Conrad Bulb Paint. The link for it should still work in our bulb painting guide. 👍

Here in Brazil, this type of Christmas flasher is no longer manufactured. Now it only makes LEDs. These LED ones don't have the same magic as the traditional ones.😢🫠😭💔
