I have this watch, only with a silver dial and mine had no band, so I adapted a silicone one. It works well with the watch. I had to replace the crystal also and went with the double domed instead of slightly magnifying. I like it and I was also able to find a sapphire one, so no more scratches. I wear this watch a lot and the case is very scratched. I am now inspired to bring it to this level of beauty with a brushed finish. I wish I knew how... but I have a jeweler friend... Thank you for featuring this gem. I love this watch.
I really wanted one of these Seiko Arctura kinetic watches on my trip through the sands of time, but my job back then required I have a scuba diving watch. I still have and use my Seiko day/date automatic divers watch, it still runs great. It is WELL used, has a history with me from around the world, nicks in the case, scratches from a dive in Manilla Bay on the crystal and I thought a year ago I should retire and replace it with another one. I was STUNNED at what the go for so, I will keep mine with our combined history. Love your channel and I am fascinated with your patience.

I've bought a lot of non-working kinetics when they were cheap. People didn't realize about the only thing that went wrong with them was the capacitor went bad. I mixed and matched parts, replaced the rechargeable capacitor and came up with 4 fully working watches. The only thing is the only replacements I could find at the time were Panasonic MT920 capacitors which only charge to about 3/4th storage as the original Seiko cap. I cleaned and oiled all the movements according to the service instructions and all the watches work find years later.

As a -hoarder- keeper of precious-to-me bits'n pieces since my childhood (in my fifties now) and ever since using those to randomly repair stuff other people would just throw away, I'm recurrently blown away by Your nonchalantly thrown-in remarks about having the one or other part, fatally defective in the watch You work on, in a probably better condition "... in my junk pile". It gets even better with those brief glimpses into random boxes, to the brim full of _not-at-all_ "junk". Recycling, reusing and restoring rocks, and doing it in that micro-scales You royally master rocks even more for me who already might struggle with the smaller Weber carburetor parts or Bosch injection pump springs .... Capacitors for the Seiko Kinetic watches are very easy to change. All you need is a case back remover and a decent small flat blade screwdriver. The capacitor part number you would need is 3023 5MY They are around $20 US on eBay.

@@Killsnapz Correct, but be careful when putting the oscillating weight back on. Make sure that the teeth on the winder engage with the very small cog that generates the charge for the cap.

@@Killsnapz Beware that not all Kinetic movements use 3023 5MY. The differences in the part numbers are the mounting bracket and they are spot-welded in place so not interchangeable. They do all use the same Li-ion rechargeable battery (the capacitor version is long ago obsolete)

@@alanmckinnon6791 yes but the OP stated he had an AGS model which would make that movement the 5M23 and the correct capacitor for the 5M23 is the 3023 5MY. I stared with 2 Rolex(submariner and explore 2) ; now I have many Seiko watches as well. I will sell the rolexes because I had them for 11 years and I'm fed up of them.

another one well done, and something learned, nice looking piece. It would be a must for a collection. Thank you father and son.

You know, most KZbinrs have cats wandering into the scene... ;-)

Imagine the havoc with those small parts, lol. Cat furs are wonderful though :) Loved them for making static electricity in science class, way back. Maybe you can tell I'm a dog person and not a big fan of cats... in every second YT's videos these days. Plus, they've a big cause of environmental destruction (native animal decimation) in my country. But, each to their own. I can forgive people that love them, in other countries.

Mine loves to steal stuff. Anything shiny or bits of wire from scrapping.

As a Seiko collector I appreciate your time, effort and skill. Amazing work! The pre-owned aspect, I once kept a kinetic Seiko running by wearing it overnight. I had some crazy crazy abstract dreams about places and people I’d never met or been to. Posted this on a Seiko group and got some surprising responses very much agreeing on similar experiences (I was a bit embarrassed but had to ask) Anyway my point is, top job in removing A LOT of residual energy from that watch and strap lol

I haven’t worn a timepiece in over 35 years . I’ve lived trying to enjoy and appreciate the moment without worrying about the next. Obviously I’m surrounded by time wether on our phones or in our vehicles. I blame the military for my inflection nevertheless I throughly enjoyed the meticulous attention needed for your skills. I have to admit I’ve never felt more intrigued into a future watch purchase… maybe it’s the next step in my therapy.. time to move on maybe. Thanks for sharing!
