Restoring Wood Frames: DIY Antique Gold Frame

Come hang out with me while I demo my technique for restoring wood frames. I found an antique gold frame that had been painted w/ several coats of white latex paint. When I began stripping it, you won't believe what I found underneath!!

Lol, I TOLD my mom that people love restoring old frames. It's worth it to leave it for someone else to love instead of just throw away. 30 years old or not. :D Ty for posting this. I want to see if I can do more to restore the old frames before letting them go.

Hi this is to funny I just came inside from working on an old small half moon table I have in my 2nd bathroom . It was my nana’s and I have had it for year. At some point it was painted red. Then I painted it white years ago. But I decided to bring it back to the original wood. I’ve got about half an the white and a little of the red off. Not sure what kind old wood it is yet but It looks pretty dark. I love doing these small projects: just did a mirror I bought at Lowes. It’s got those details in it like your frame. But way to bright of a gold so I have antiqued it and loving it. As you know I love all you videos but this is fun. Great job🥰🥰 Loving it! Teresa

I'd love to know your refinishing techniques - do you prefer tung oil or poly? I ask because I recently stripped a cherry wood nightstand that had been painted white. I used oil as the sealant, but now I'm thinking I should have used poly...

@@FreeRangeDiva Ah, thank you!! I've had better luck with tung oil, than poly. The hand rubbed finish was my favorite application method. When I stripped the hard wood floors, I did use poly, but I'm pretty sure that is the only time. You made me want to refinish something again, lol. Have a beautiful day, Cheryl.
