I read a lot about the Canes and I'm not aware of any general trend or numbers of Restrepo haters. There are a couple of them spread out throughout Miami country. People gotta believe their own eyes, not words out of people's mouths (or fingertips). Restrepo is the first thousand-yard receiver since the D'Eriq King days with Charleston Rambo. Before him, the previous one (out of only SIX receivers with thousand-yard seasons) was Allen Hurns--a DECADE ago! Restrepo didn't have the highest average yards-per-reception because he was a slot receiver, designated to catch short and medium-distance passes. A lot of his receptions were basically running plays by design. The only passes he didn't catch were uncatchable, badly thrown toward the sideline or underthrown. He has tremendous hands and wonderful body control, able to contort his body to meet the ball within his range. He's not as pretty as Braxton Berrios but he stepped into his shoes and outplayed him. We are DAMNED lucky that Restrepo stayed at The U despite the temptation to follow Van Dyke to Wisconsin or go elsewhere. He's going to be a third, maybe fourth-round NFL draftee.

We as fans all fall in love with the idea of, and covet that 6'2" plus outside WR who can dominate by winning the 50/50 ball and making big plays. X is not that guy, but he is the guy we can trust to be open, move the chains, and make plays on the ball by getting separation with his ball skills. He loves the U and fights for every yard on every play. To be honest I didn't know he had that many haters, because my family all loves him! I can't understand anyone feeling differently, unless it's because his name isn't Innis or J Smith. Otherwise, there's nothing to dislike

Even his own teammates were hating on him when he first got here. Calling him the coaches pet. Making fun of him for working out extra. In his first scrimmage he had 173 yards. He’s been Ballin since that.. and then people started hating on him because TBD with throw him the ball a lot while receivers were open. But people failed to realize that a bunch of our receivers all they did was drop balls. So both the playcalling and the QB were focused on getting the ball for somebody who was actually going to catch it and not drop it..

If folks are complaining it may be because a possession receiver has 85 catches and averages 12 yards per catch (TE numbers). Can't win the big ones like that, coach. Listen, LOVE the kid myself, but you have to figure out creative ways to get your burners involved. Ultimately, that's the OCs responsibility.

Coach Hayes Football, IIRC, miami fans were pretty tough on Will Mallory when he lead the team in receptions and yards, too. Was it Mallory’s fault that miami lacked WR production? Nope. And what would miami fans give to have 42 catches for 538 yards out of a TE again? miami fans suffer from a sense of entitlement due to past prominence… and now it just makes them look ungrateful. Miami fans need to lay off Restrepo. QB's went to Strepo simply because he's the most consistent WR on the field. Restrepo is trying to be a first round pick by putting in the work he's done. He was the first WR to get with Cam Ward when he got on Campus. That says a lot to me the kid earned his spotlight and there's no need to hate on Strepo at all for doing his part. I need for him to get another 1,000 yard plus season.
