Restricted Performance tips for Jaguar

Here’s some tips that helped me successfully repair the restricted performance light in my jaguar. It was restricting my cars performance to about 2500 revs. Did plenty of research and this light is usually a vacuum issue. Try replacing your mass airflow sensor, air filter, and also replacing all of the gaskets in the upper and lower intake manifold, you’ll want to clean around these very good. Also don’t forget the two IMT gaskets on the back of the upper intake as well. I would also replace all your spark plugs and ignition coils while your in there. Be carful when disassembling not to snap any vacuum lines, also don’t overtighten the intake manifold bolts when reassembling just tighten enough for an airtight seal between the gaskets. Take your time with this repair and if you replace any tubing such as vacuum or fuel injector make sure it is the proper kind. Hope this helps as all this worked for my jag!

I'm rebuilding my s type r. I have a restricted performance light and check engine light. I replaced everything including throttlebody . I did scan the car and found the upstream 02 s we're not working properly. There were several vacum leaks , including the shaft in the throttlebody. Hoping the new 02 sensors correct the codes. Did the codes stay after? For me my egr is apparently out but the car is only around 47k mileage I don’t want to take out the whole egr meanwhile it’s a sensor issue 🥲😂

Yes those 2 gaskets are prone to wearing out and letting excess air in! glad I could help

I’m going to try and replace the 5 parts you listed. What type of spark plugs and gaskets are you talking about? 1999 xj8 btw

Upper intake manifold gaskets, also grab some new spark plugs, coil packs if you can budget those also

Throttle Position Sensor. TPS. 'nuff said. Did restricted performance come back? Not trying to be a wise guy, I have just seen this over and over for 10+ years. X-Type, S-Type XJ - Engine systems management, DSC Not avail Park Brake Fail = TPS and/or throttle body replacement.

It did not come back, replacing all of the gaskets did the job in this case. The 2 round circle gaskets On the back of the intake manifold In this case was causing to much air to seep in. Vacuum leak. And while I was in their I hit it with a tune-up. New sparks, ignitor packs and filter. Haven’t had a problem since then. Never came back. In this case being a V6, replaced 6 gaskets for upper intake, 6 gaskets under the lower intake, and the 2 round circle gaskets in the back of the intake manifold. It’s also very wise to check your mass airflow sensor too. Hope this helps man!!

2006 jaguar S type 3.0 6 cylinder. its going to be the same concept for all other jags, other jags have very similar setups
