You got it! Unfortunately at the Ford Dealership. Make sure you are sitting down when they quote the price. :)

Mine was 4K about 4 years ago. It's still going strong today with no issues since the replacement and I pull a small trailer with it when we go camping.

I'm installing a new Transmission in my 2013 Ford Transit Connect soon. The factory instructions didn't mention a relearn procedure recommendation after the new install. This might be why the Dealer missed programming your new Transmission. I have dealer level scan tools with up to date software. I will be sure to update the software for the PCM & Transmission Control Module(s). Thanks for sharing this important information with the General Public.

Thank you for posting this. I was able to find a video online explaining how to reset the transmission computer and the adaptive learning. The vehicle shifts a lot smoother now. Thank you again for posting this. Have a great day!

Good information. This may save a many van owners a lot of money. I am happy that the fix this time was fairly simple and at no cost.

Hey Bruce..glad you got it sorted out. As for using overdrive..if it shifts out of OD I turn it off till I'm running level again. Sounds like that dealer that replaced your trans did substandard work..not updating the software.

Thanks Paul, I agree with everything you said. :)

I'm installing the same Transmission soon. Ford factory instructions didn't mention that a TCM relearn procedure is required. I'm glad I found this video. I'm a Technician and rely on the Manufacturers instructions. I'm a little disappointed that Ford missed printing the Mandatory software update after the new Transmission installation.

i replace this x2 due to slipping, its doing it again, the shop I used closed due to this COVID.i am installing a cooler today, i bet they did not clean the old cooler. no codes, fluid is clean and not burned
@WannaBFree4 жыл бұрын
It stinks doing this one time I can't imagine going through it twice. I didn't know the Transit Connect had a transmission cooler. It will be interesting to find out how it works for you this time. I hope it does great!

Holy cow, I didn't even know that overdrive button existed. Do most automatics have that? All of my prior vehicles were manual. I know exactly what you are talking about in regards to how it sometimes can't decide between 3rd and 4th going up hills. I thought that was just a flaw with the vehicle. To compensate I would always just let off the gas until it stuck in one gear. Hope no damage was caused.
@WannaBFree4 жыл бұрын
Yes, most automatics have an overdrive button. At least you know about it now :)

Reseting the MIL will not solve problems with your car. If the problem is resolved- the MIL will go off automatically.

Is the Connect still going strong? We are considering a Wagon for family transportation. Not looking to tow with it. Wish they made them with a six speed manual.
@WannaBFree2 жыл бұрын
Yes Andrew, the Connect is still going strong. I would also like to have a six speed manual transmission. Unfortunately they are all automatic transmissions here in the United States.

How much would it be to have the transmission replaced on this car? I have a Ford Transit Connect I purchased used with 50k miles. Immediately noticed issues with the shifting but the dealer always dismissed it even though I had warranty. So all I did was a transmission fluid change and one dealer said they found a problem they found with the transmission. Not sure what that could have been or what could be fixed that easily on a transmission.
@WannaBFree10 ай бұрын
Mine was 4K about 5 years ago. I would guess it's quite a bit more than that now in 2024 but I really don't know.
@luperamos730710 ай бұрын
@@WannaBFree That was at an official Ford dealer with warranty, right? Thanks for letting me know. Cars have just gotten so expensive that I want to hold on longer to the ones I have
@WannaBFree10 ай бұрын
Yes that was at a Ford Dealership with full warranty. Also it was a NEW genuine Ford Transmission not a rebuild or refurbished transmission. I agree with you 100% to keep the vehicles you currently own and keep them running!

I am looking to get a new brand new connect. Is it a pretty good vehicle over all?
@WannaBFree2 жыл бұрын
Personally I would not buy a new connect. It's a gutless vehicle and will barely get out of it's own way. Everything is cheap and it's a bottom of the line vehicle IMO.
@spywriter0072 жыл бұрын
@@WannaBFree Well I don't know of too many small vans that are better. Dodge Promaster City for example has an oil burning problem.
@WannaBFree2 жыл бұрын
I've had a lot of problems with the automatic door locks too. They have a plastic gear in the mechanism inside the door that will strip the gears and the locks won't work automatically any more. I've replaced two of the them and that job is no fun but it does fix the lock function. My van is a 2010 so hopefully a new one won't have this problem for many years or maybe they have changed the design on the newer models. The reality is they all have problems of some sort or another. I suppose you just get the one you like the best and do your best to enjoy it.

Would be alot more informative if started video with the year n mileage of vehicle. Just saying Ford transit connect is not very specific.

That’s what people think it’s a tansmission problem but in reality it’s the computer 😮
