Follow this link for video where I discuss methods that didn't work, mark the nests in the daylight, and treat them at night. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nIPXopV4eb-madk

I've seen so many people that have success using the dish soap method. They simply put a piece of screen over the entrance, then dump dish soap into the entrance and turn on the garden hose until the nest is flooded with suds. It's non-toxic and people swear by it. If you're going to use a pesticide, u should check out WaspHunter's channel. He uses Drione powder with a bulb duster. The foaming spray is good for aerial wasp nests that don't have an envelope around it where the foam can kill them on contact. The dust is way more effective for ground nests or aerial nests that have an envelope.

Thanks for the Yellowjacket info & product feedback! Would have like to have seen how you applied the product. Very nice vid! 👍 Will be following your lead with my Yellowjacket problem also.

@CaptKurt99 Thank you for your feedback and support. I actually broke this series down into several videos to give a closer to real time view of the effort that went into eradicating last year's yellow jacket invasion. You can find all the videos here: kzbin.info/aero/PLaSBaXJkkz-2P8R5H9ZIzAmfBHZxEX5Vv Or just a video where I applied the spray here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nIPXopV4eb-madksi=0HDhEsG6gjz8k3dQ The "too long, didn't watch" version is that I marked the nests during the day then went back out at night to apply the poison. I used approximately half a can on each nest. That was probably too much, but it did it's job well. After killing 14 nests with the spectracide last year, we've seen very few yellow jackets so far this year, and no one has been stung yet.

They were bad around here this year too. Got popped on two different occassions while I was cutting the grass.

Yeah, I don't know if it's the warmer, drier summer or what, but they're everywhere and super aggressive. This was just the first batch. I'm up to 13 nests now on my little property. Better videos will come as I get them edited and processed.

You are very welcome. If you're interested in the yellow jacket videos, make sure to subscribe and stick around. We really were infested this year! This video is of the first 4, but it's less than 1/3 of the nests I've killed so far. I just need editing and processing time lol. I appreciate your support!

I used the same brand he's holding at the beginning of the video, and it worked like a charm. But what I did is when i got done spraying i covered the hole with packed down sod . The drones will still hang around even if the Queens are dead, always cover the holes

The instructions do say to plug the hole with dirt. I think I mentioned that in one of my videos about this, and that I would have done that if I wasn't digging them up for demonstration. Glad you had success! Thank you for your interest and support!

Just my .02, I just got rid of a nest with Sevin dust. I Just covered the hole at midnight and they were all gone the next day, some still squirming around dying, that was it. Less than a dollar worth of Sevin did it easy.
@abundantlifehomestead3100Ай бұрын
I actually tried Sevin dust on the first 2 nests I found. I even plugged the entrance with the dust during the day so bees coming and going were forced to dig their way out through the poison. When it had no noticeable effect, I did it again in the same two nests with the same results. Looking into it, and even contacting GardenTech (maker of Sevin), I found that they have changed the formula of most of their products, and although they don't come right out and say it on the packaging, they are more bee friendly now. The pinned comment above links to the video where talk just a moment about the Sevin dust and my intent to try the spectracide, then go around to the 4 nests, showing the treated entrances still very much active. Thank you for your interest and support. We haven't had any yellow jacket trouble this year, but when we do again, I plan on making videos on cheaper, safer alternatives to chemically treating them.

@@abundantlifehomestead3100 that’s interesting, come to think of it, the sevin I have is in an old green paper bag, it’s been in my garage since probably the 90’s. I got tired of fighting the deer for my garden, so I haven’t tried in years and that stuff was left over. Good talking with you, take care ✌️

I had ground bees, a quart of gasoline and a garden hose works great.
@abundantlifehomestead3100Ай бұрын
I don't like taking the gasoline route. I used kerosene on a nest in the past, and it burned for hours, but the hive was active again 2 weeks later. I think fuel is not incredibly effective unless the nest is straight down from the entrance. Out of 14 nests I dug last year, only 1 was right below the hole. Some were 3 feet away, and that's where the expanding foam excels I think.

Just make a bucket of hot water with disk soap and vinegar and pour over!

I poured some gas down the hole and let it and had some barbecue
@abundantlifehomestead3100 Жыл бұрын
I've done the same with kerosene in the past, but I prefer not to dump fuel in the ground anymore. Then again, this Spectracide might not be any less contaminating. Thanks for following along!
