I believe that file was made by Nicholson.....just like mine! Boy I remember working on those 028's with points back in the late '70s and early '80s, yup I'm that old

It is a Nicholson. I believe I bought it at NAPA in about 1969, when I was trying to keep my 1957 Ford running for the next weekend. Age is priceless because of the one's that left too soon.

Clint you could double up on the grub screw like Stihl did on the old 011's if you need the room. Great video! I love seeing those old 028 saws percolating!

Thanks very much Don. Bring dead old saws back to life is what I seek the most.

@@ClintsHobbiesDIY a customer of mine brought me an old Stihl 031AV today! He wants me to restore it "for his Dad", lol. I can't wait to get started!!

@@donmayberryjrsOPE LOL Good luck Don. I don't restore saws. I just make them cut again, but I have my eye on a Mac 7-10 that has never been run since bought new. He just won't give it up.

Your a braver man than me for putting this on KZbin! I’ve picked a fight with my 028 super more times than I can count…. A different problem appears every stinkn time… really annoying 😏 unlike mine I hope you get to enjoy yours

I understand completely. While I was working on this one Simple Man sent me two 028 parts saws. I got one of them running. I have another 028AV vid I'm working on that I fixed for a good friend. I'm old enough that I don't give a care what the trolls think, but I don't have very many of them that comment. I have a great bunch of guys that follow me. In the end, if I help one person it was worth my time making the vid. Thanks for watching and your comment.

Yes, do the chip, , , it's quick, easy, and you don't ever have to clean and set the points. Nice job. Keep the old carb for sure, I bought several replacement carbs from china, and threw all of them away. Never will I ever buy a chinese replacement for Stihl equipment.

Chineseismnated parts are hit or miss

@@ClintsHobbiesDIY Yes, I agree, I didn't check on who / where the chips were made, but now that you mention it, ,, ,yeah, most likely china.

Normal for me. I'll never hive a regular schedule after working shift work in a paper mill for 43 years.

@@ClintsHobbiesDIY I here ya , gotten that way myself since I retired in 15 , stay up all night sometimes like last night bringing a push mower back to life . Night before bringing a Echo blower back to life .

@@wg4405 I'll probably do some of the same when I get the shop finished. My son works the night shift most of the time, so I'm limited what I can do in the basement.
