KZbin recommended your video to me (first time I have watched your channel) and it was such a beautiful experience from start to finish. The love you both have between father and son, and it's very clear to see that your workforce are a 'family' as well. The MB 450SEL is one of my most favourite cars, I'm not sure if it is the 6.9 version, as that is my ultimate dream car to own some day :) When I get mine, and I need it restoring, I'll be giving you guys a call :) PS - fantastic work by the videographer and the choice of music was perfect as well. Restorations to this level are actually much more work than the original car production where parts are picked & fitted. Restorations require all the parts removed, cleaned, repaired, repainted, reupholstered, rewired, replaced then refitted. It’s a labour of love.

Well, you might stop brushing rusted parts and get some decent sandblasting equipment. Because that looks a bit unprofessional.
@alcalatechnology8 ай бұрын
For your knowledge, sandblasting is removing/deforming the surface of the part that you are restoring, and giving a really ugly shape to the metal. Of course, for those who want to earn money for it and make it quick, paint on tom and maybe noone will know the status of it, is correct. NOT for us. Thank you 🤝🏼
@Andreas-yz5cf8 ай бұрын
@@alcalatechnology I was not talking about doors and bonnets, there it's surely not the right procedure. But for suspension parts or for example the brake disc back covers that doesn't really matter. And there, if you're just brushing them, you still have small rust nests in small cavities which are not being removed and lead to new rust pretty soon. From my experience...

I think what struck me the most is that although it's an old car (maybe 1979,1980?), the cleanliness of your workshop - not just clean, GLEAMING - and the quiet, efficient, experienced, technicians with all the right tools and equipment and a lot of know how - plus quite evidently a SUPER well organised plan/process - not to mention the movie level quality of videography and editing - gave the whole thing an almost surreal feel of a team of surgeons operating on a magnificent old beast on the edge of extinction. And that bit by bit, his life signs stabilise until eventually he emerges not just with a new heart and new knees, but also a nose job, tummy tuck, skin peel, hair transplant, eye lift and teeth polished - as well as a full day at the spa being oiled, massaged and moisturised, nose hairs and eyebrows tidied, mani/pedi, shaved (in places where you both can - and can't - see!) - and sent out into the world with a clean bill of health and a haircut, new suit, shoes, spectacles and watch😂❤

Thankyou for replying. I might add that the fastest my uncle and I drove in his car was 280kph, before our nerves gave out. Not because of the car - it was rock steady, and I'm sure able to get to at least 300kph. The thing is this was in central Australia, on narrow roads with kangaroos and cattle able to wander onto the road. It's amazing how much more narrow a road looks at 280kph! Still, at least we were not in danger of getting a speeding ticket in this part of Australia, as there was NO speed limit on outback roads in those days! Just like your fancy autopistas, hey? I'd love to come to Spain one day and meet great people like you guys. Cheers from Australia.

😵💫And I mean this in a good way. 😃 That was an amazing experience, and I almost don't know where to begin. I was mesmerized by the entire video. There was something unique about this era of Mercedes Benz in the 70s and 80s when they were built to a standard, not to a cost, or these days almost trying to win the "best new gadget award" that will fail or break in 2 years." LED lighting belongs in offices not wrapped around a vehicle! This car has a soul and you have given it a new life. Mercedes has been in and around early in my life. I currently drive a 1985 123. When think of what some of the current vehicles cost it makes me laugh because they will NEVER, EVER be what the M116 is, nor will it endure the test of time, especially with climate change. I just watched a video on Thursday showing the production of the 116 from the original factory. This restoration looks to be even better than the original. I was taken away with the engine restoration. I also like the color choices on the exterior, and the leather inside, the brown is much better. Outside of that, I enjoyed watching the team in action, and the tools that are used (tools I didn't know existed), such as the dry ice blaster. I assume this causes less risk of damaging a component? The facility is clean, and everyone looks happy. Finally, kudos to the video and sound team, the music was perfect. Can't wait to share this with a few other classic car enthusiasts. If I play my cards right, you may hear from me one day. Keep up the good work and thanks!

@@alcalatechnology one more question I forgot to ask. At 22:36 in the movie, the wheels are being reattached. The wrench end on the tool looks like something other than metal. I presume this is to prevent chipping and scratching to the lug nuts and the surrounding area correct? Unfortunately, my 123 wheels have been abused by shops/tire shops. I wonder if this is a universal part that I could find and insist on shops using when I acquire my next Mercedes. Thanks!

@@alcalatechnology Hi, I just shared your video with a fellow enthusiast (Porsche) and he liked it! I picked up my 380SL last week and at some point, I think I may want to have the engine bay and underside cleaned, but I can't come to Spain. The technology is the same correct? I should be able to find someone closer to me (East Coast in the States). Thanks

You're doing amazing job. It would be cool to see extra acoustic/noise treatment to your projects (cabin, roof, doors, floor..) and sound (multimedia) system upgrades 👍

Germany is currently being politically destroyed. You have revived a piece of German engineering that will no longer exist. This beautiful Mercedes will serve its owner well for many years to come. Thank you for the excellent professional work. Warm greetings from Germany.

That was a fantastic restoration. I still have a 1991 Mercedes 300 SE that was my daily driver back in the '90's. I let it sit for 17 years but recently got it running good again. It looks really good, but after watching this.....I want to restore it perfectly...lol. Great job guys!

This is incredible ! Never really been a Mercedes fan but this car i can appreciate, I'd own this in a heartbeat. The workmanship is unlike anything I've seen before, truly stunning. The colour exterior/interior combination is perfect. Would have loved to have seen a small video of the owner receiving it and his reaction. I think I'd cry if it was me lol. Well done on a fantastic restoration.
