You just need to time it up put locking pin on crankshaft put the plate in on camshaft then just take belt off off top pullies ther is no need to take crankshaft bolt out and lock starter motor because you have already had it timed up

Had these leak from front seal in the past.only way to tell is to check before full reassembly.

I would say it's the water pump mechanical seal. Failures can be random, however can be caused by running the pumps dry.

There's always one part that even though it's brand new will fail. Lucky it was just the gasket. I agree with you that they don't make gaskets like thy used to

theres a guy does loads of belts and he wont use dayco as they always fail. you do not need sealer on gaskets. unless it says you do

Battery light was only on as auxiliary belt wasn't fitted so alternator not working as for the water leak them crush gaskets take a bit more pressure in the cold to seal hopefully a bit more on them bolts should seal it unless like you say possible manufacturing defect good luck and happy new year

Is the engine waterpump mounting distorted at all ? Or is the pump faulty

Can you see if the pump is leaking from the gasket surface or from the weep hole? Just because a part is new doesn't mean its good.

Why do you need to take timing belt off and remove the crank pulley to be able to remove the water pump? And re lock the engine?? Unless I missed something apologise in advance. I'm only used to working on my BMW E46 lol I thought the water pump run from the crank with a separate belt unless ford have made it so you can remove the water pump unless ?

@@STOINK-h7t Hi mate a can see what you are saying basically to remove the water pump you have to remove the timing belt tensioner that goes against the water pump so the engine some be locked every time 👍👍
