No, I'm a poor person who taught your children. I remember when decorum and integrity was the backbone of our leaders, both in DC and business. Now I see greed, exclusion of the poor and graft. Beware because the French Revolution taught us that the middle class must exist as a buffer between the rich and poor. The US middle class is being squeezed for every dime, with nothing given back in return, and eventually this anger between us will fester on both sides out of fear. You use labels too, don't you bro?

I voted for Trump, but I actually agree with your comment. Trump is not always "presidential". Personally, I think it's a good thing. Best economy ever. Trade deals that work for the USA. Minority unemployment at all time low and respect from other world leaders. I'll take a president who speaks his mind over a teleprompter any day.

@noonsound4894
@noonsound4894 5 жыл бұрын
@@johnroscoe1773 as Barbara has said, you'd have to be joking John. World leaders are laughing at Trump behind and in front of his face. The economy has been on this trajectory for many years and very few real economists can point to anything Trump has done to contribute. In fact job growth has been at a slower rate than when he took office. This claim that minority employment is up because of him is such a joke. He hasn't done a single thing to make that happen. If employment growth happens in any economy it doesn't happen based on race...it's all or nothing. We are yet to see the detrimental effects his trade war will have not only on the US economy but the world. He's had to offer $12billion in handouts to farmers alone to make up for the disastrous impact on US farmers. Republicans would call that welfare and socialism by the way. He is economically illiterate, morally bereft and an inveterate liar. Guaging somebody's suitability for high office based on their ability to shoot their mouth off wildly, belligerantly, irrationally and mendaciously at right wing rallies seems to me to be a very poor standard. I pity his cabinet constantly trying to clean up after his "off teleprompter" brain explosions.

i agree, but Trump has just successfully put more conservative judges on the bench across the country than any other president before him. our courts are lost to us. he has stacked the decks while we were looking at the Kavenaugh case, and slid all of those nominees through. many supported by current democratic senators as well. That needs to be brought out more in the coverage. We have been duped over and over and over. Nothing short of the entire country getting into the streets is going to turn this ship around. And making sure every single conservative politician loses their seat in congress and the house between now and 20/20.

@ArtOfShannonLee
@ArtOfShannonLee 5 жыл бұрын
@xr7fan the burden of proof is ON BRETT! This isn't a criminal trial, it's a job interview. It's his job to demonstrate that he is qualified for the job. The standard for a supreme court judge is not "the evidence fails to show beyond a reasonable doubt that he sexually assaulted anyone", abiding by the law is the bare minimum standard of the average person. The standard for a judge is much higher! He has to show that, not only did he not assault anyone but he also has a judge's temperament. Which, it seems, he has not. He has been caught lying and has been dismissive and disrespectful of the people he is trying to get confirmed by. If you were rude to someone who was interviewing you for a job, you wouldn't get hired. Simple as that. The bare minimum for a normal job interview is that you must be polite and professional. The standard for judges is HIGHER than that! Again, in a criminal trial, all he'd have to do to escape liability is RAISE A DOUBT that he sexually assaulted Dr Ford. The question in issue HERE is "is this person fit for the extremely prestigious role of supreme court judge?" And I don't know whether he sexually assaulted her or not but having any suspicion or doubt that he may have sexually assaulted anyone suggests that he is not of the type of character that people should want to be associated with the supreme court. Statistically, it is very unlikely that Dr Ford is lying. But it really doesn't matter whether he did it or not now, as far as his confirmation is concerned. He has shown himself to not have a cool enough temperament for the supreme court. Tough. They can just pick the next judge on their list anyway.

In view of all the high toned rhetoric of God and Country, Kavanaugh should withdraw his nomination; then resign his existing judgeship. He won't starve and America will not suffer. If he does not, then we'll all lose. The sanctity of our Supreme Court demands this action and Kavanaugh should know this. Just resign "to protect our Courts". If not, God help you!

As European I love this US Soap Opera, featuring a Reality Show TV-Host and especially those 2 century-old, grumpy Republican Senators, who clearly migrated from the Muppet Show to the US Senate. Great Show, I'm really curious about the next episodes. The USA is turning into a Reality TV Show, but what else can you expect, if you elect a Reality Show TV Host.

Dr. Ford was in an even more horrible position having to bring up the awful and too common violence that has haunted her life in so many ways, amid death threats. At no time was she sharp, inappropriate, or displaying anger...even against the person who assaulted her! THAT was a demonstration of raw Courage. In contrast, Kavanaugh discounting her suffering calling her part of a political ploy! WTF? At no time did he even venture to express how he could be an asset to the Supreme Court and our country... because he obviously couldn't. The Supreme Court HAS to be a neutral forum to listen to all sides and provide an objective ruling...as much as possible. I was heartened to hear Sen. Flake express his concerns. I thought the old ethical GOP that had genuine, deep beliefs about defending the Constitution (whether we agree or not) was completely dead and replaced with knee jerk, castrated and mutated "GOP" -Senatorial Body-Snatchers who forgot their responsibility to a Democracy of the people, in favor of putting on meaningless tap dances for Putin's sad Puppet in the White House. More genuine Senators have followed suit and I am thankful that ethics isn't completely dead in the GOP. Regardless of my political views as an adult, I NEVER believed that any Senator was representing anyone other than our people and our Constitution in the best way they could...until the last few weeks. It took courage for those real GOP Senators to stand up to Crazy. Our Constitution, our people never needed it more. And it all started with the courage of a little 15 year old girl. Let's not let it end there...VOTE!

It is time now to stand our ground. I guestimate over one thousand women have been arrested during this crisis. 300 today alone. Several hundred yesterday, and hundreds during the past week or so. During the Civil Rights unrest, the battle cry was, '"They can't arrest all of us". Civil rights protestors went into the streets by the thousands, and willingly gave themselves up for arrest, filling the jails, and filling the courtrooms, and thereby clogging up the entire system, and frustrating local municipalities to no end. Eventually calls to stop the massive arrests began to surface. it was a small victory but a pivotal one that helped to change the course of history. We need this again. These women have led the way. All supporters of women, gays, Americans, immigrants, native people, anyone who would be hurt by Brett Kavenaugh sitting on the supreme court needs to make a final stand. Leave your family, leave your jobs, leave your schools, leave your lives, walk out the door, carry a sign that says 'I am ____________. I will not be moved.". Do not fight back. Do not show any aggression. Do not speak. Face front forward, keep your face impassive. Keep your resolve. Possibly you may get arrested. Keep calm. Keep to your resolve. This is civil disobedience. We need to do it en masse as a country. Everyone at once. It has been attempted fragmentary. That will not work. I call on this country to walk away from it for one day, in the next 24 hours. to "Boycott' America. You may say I am nuts. I really do not care. I will be walking to a street corner, and standing there with a sign that says: "I am a woman. I will not be moved." I do not care what anyone thinks. I will stand there proudly without flinching. I will show no emotion. I will stand there proudly. For this time, I will not be a part of this country. I will walk away from it. It is no longer a place I wish to me. Even if it is for an hour, or a day or a week. It just takes one moment, one minute, one second, to decide to stand up for what is right. Do it in any increment that is comfortable. You can make a difference. One second, can turn into one minute, then one hour, then one day then one week, then one month then one year, then one decade, then one century, then one millennium then one epoch. It can be done. One, by one, by one. "They can't arrest us all".
@CS-vh3xk
@CS-vh3xk 5 жыл бұрын
Better than a street corner would be a court house, or a legislative building, and especially those in Washington DC. Tomorrow is best day as well. This fight should have been won 100 years ago, but like the civil rights movement was required to address the continuance of slavery by other means, this is necessary to address the continuance of the oppression of women by other means. Men we should go with our wives, with our daughters, and even with our sons. Let us show them what it is to be Americans, not cowed into submission by abuse of authority, upholding the value of the court as a supreme institution separate from all others. Keep Kavanaugh from betraying America.

The difference between understanding and judgment is fear. A fair person can understand someone who sees things different than them. A fearful person judges someone who sees things different than them. This is why we need fair judges. Unless you want to live in a world where everyone is out to get you. This world view is up to you, stop judging others, and start understanding them.
