The changes to the crew elevator gives me hope for how they may rework the crew elevator aboard the Reclaimer.
@RedJay
@RedJay Ай бұрын
I'm sure that will be fixed eventually - it's a shame the front elevator to ground on Reclaimer I just ignore it exists currently and use the rear elevator for everything. The internal elevator that is forward I use it only because I have to to traverse ship internally effectively.
@FuriousImp

Regarding the reclaimer I'm hoping for a rework that will implement the original plans of breaking ships apart with the Reclaimer claw. Now it's just a copy paste of mining gameplay. We need the maelstrom physics system for that though... By the way: the actual 3D model of the claw was remade. It used to be like a giant pair of pliers.
@andrewcoulthard-clark
@andrewcoulthard-clark Ай бұрын
@FuriousImp I liked the claw! It has a smaller pair of secondary claws either side of the main claw(saw it on the 3D print versons), that I want to see used to retrieve valuable items like fuses, weapons and batteries to be auto deposited into the cargo hold.
@FuriousImp
@FuriousImp Ай бұрын
@@andrewcoulthard-clark Really? That's not my impression when I checked it out in EVA for over an hour. It was a giant pair of pliers that could chomp down and articulate forward and backyard. To take the bits and pieces in - there are 2 done operator seats on the top deck with a launch bay on that top deck, and that loading hatch all the way to the back of the ship in the section called "salvage hold" right underneath "salvage processing" where the printers are now installed. Or was there another version out there that I'm not aware of?

Valk's cargo/vehicle grid has long been a hot topic since CIG tried to prevent parking a rack of cargo there at begining then pulled back on that allowing it. I am not sure if there will ever be more cargo allowed in Valk, but certainly from a practical standpoint it could work if allowed.

@RedJay

Bomber module would be easiest to get running I believe, only a bit of aiming system for the bombs when in "guns/missile" modes and changes there... but medical in the rear module bay would be especially useful because that would run well with the front dropship module.

@RedJay
@RedJay Ай бұрын
Thank you, I've worked hard on production values overall and it seems like every few months I find a new thing to improve. I think scanning will be muddied by busy shipping lanes and only a few seconds to can someone down between quantums unless we are talking about quieter systems that are big distances with long cooldown timers in routes... but that of course goes all out the window if players get intelligence on incoming ships from a friendly tip or if players can scan other ships that are in quantum. And yea, going planet/moonside into an atmo of some kind will slow folks down a lot to aide with getting a grapple on what kind of loadout and contents the ship is running.

Very interesting to see that this ship has the circular docking collar door. I thought that they planned on making all the docking collar doors squares/rectangles like they are with all the ships that can currently dock. Unless I'm missing something and some ships with circular doors can currently dock. I'm curious to see how they plan on pulling that off with the current docking collars
@RedJay

The circular doors are the sub-cap standardized docking collars. They are all the same size, then the Cap ships and Quasi-Caps have the bigger non-circular ones.

Since launch of base it was considered the bomber is just a base pre-loaded with both front and back S9 torp modules. Advertising pages more recently have tried to pitch base model as its own versitile gunship, but honestly that is all wordsmithing I think.

How do you get cargo in and out of the cargo bay?
@RedJay
@RedJay Ай бұрын
In the cargo modules, it is through their Connie like elvators in floor of each module. For these base modules, need to work with tractor beam and pass the boxes through the elevator or through the docking collar which can be locked open even when not docked, so can throw boxes outside with tractor beam.

I picked up a Retaliator Base during IAE particularly for the purpose of seeing how CIG planned to address modularity. However, I have a Zeus Mk II CL (very soon TM) and cannot forsee my Tali competing with it for cargo runs. I am strongly considering my San Tok Yai to the Tali bomber proper and possibly consider adding the cargo module. Thanks for this first look and your perspectives! * gives a crisp salute *
@RedJay
@RedJay Ай бұрын
o7 Initial testers are saying 74 SCU in the Tali cargo module if you use both at same time, and have Connie style drop elevators (but of course nothing like the Connie Taurus with the tractor beam turret facing its big elevator). I think for pure hauling Zeus CL will treat you better especially if you roll with a friend/Orgmate often. Tali is rough for long term use by more than 1 player. Tali versatility though is the value post modularity, but love it for that reason.
@PantherKen
@PantherKen Ай бұрын
@@RedJay 74 SCU is compelling, but a total lack of pilot controlled guns makes this hard to rationalize... except for when AI Blades can run fire protocols or my starter packages can be converted into crew to be gunners in my turrets. It will be great to see how CIG handles this. You've basically convinced me to hold onto or potentially make a CCU chain for a base Tali to replace the one I bought with store credit.
@RedJay
@RedJay Ай бұрын
Can't hurt in the near term - especially if Tali slowly goes up in price on base model a bit. Agreed in current condition no pilot controlled weapons (other then the S9 torps when 1 or both torp modules are installed) is a bit much.

Bought it during concept sale way back when. The original Ryan Church concepts had the crew much closer together with remote turret stations similar to the drone control alcoves on the Carrack. But during the transition from concept into game it lost that whole internal esthetic I was looking forward to. So that was probably the first ship I melted almost immediately after release to the live environment 😅 Still like the shape very much but I feel like I’ve outgrown the need for that aggressive Aegis design 😅
@RedJay
@RedJay Ай бұрын
That's fair and in lore the Retaliator is an older design - but I feel remote turrets would greatly help from a practical perspective. Multi-crew ships are more fun when hanging out together in same place, makes them more accessible for less dedicated Orgs and groups of friends.

To me the Talli is going to suffer from MM. it used to be with its large HP and shields you could fly in at 800+ speeds drop a torpedo or two on a target and just keep flying past your target as those torps slowly headed to the target. Even going to quantum if necessary. A very soloable thing. Now there is no getting away with MM speeds and dripping to nav mode lack the HP to tank while you quantum away. A full crew is needed to defend itself. That 6 players . . . I loved the Talli in the prior 3.22 FM but I think it will suffer significantly in MM.

Very nice looking ship, it's great to see the modularity for it. 👍 I like the design although I do wonder how effective that small doorway will be for moving sizes 1 or 2 SCU boxes. I also wonder if using the loadout manager is a temporary thing to get it into players' hands. I had fully expected it to at least be similar to automatic loading of cargo: Use a kiosk, adjust the ship, wait for the modules to become "ready" and then you can retrieve your ship. But regardless, what a time to be in the game.

@RedJay

Exactly, and fair enough on the hallways - the redunancy of the rear hallways (and attached crewed turrets on those hallways) is a hallmark of military designs in that a huge hole knocks out a left hallway, you still have a right hallway to quickly get to back of ship and evacuate to middle of ship... but that makes sense more on larger scale craft like HH and Idris for examples that have more space for double hallways.

I'm disappointed in the rework. The layout of the retaliator is dumb and doesn't make sense. Needs smaller crew and less guns but larger. And let snot even get started on crew and crew support amenities for a ship meant to go out on hunter/killer missions (which is what a sub does) for days/weeks/months at a time.
@RedJay
@RedJay Ай бұрын
The living quarters module would need to be added to get full kitchen/decent space to form up between fights - guess the back one then front module carrying 4 S9 tarps, but then you are cutting off 1/3rd of the potential damage of the ship.
@sudonix5923
@sudonix5923 Ай бұрын
@@RedJay it's just a bad design from the same 'era' as the star farer. It needs an entire rework which is what I thought they were doing. The changes they made didn't actually fix the issues with the ship to begin with. To put it into perspective, it has a larger crew than a carrack. If the Javelin and Bengal are "the only ships in the UEE large enough to afford enough sleeping quarters for each of their crew so they don't have to share racks", and the Carrack WAS a UEE Explorer and the Tali IS a UEE Torpedo Boat, then we have to assume the crew hot racks. If that's the case, then the Tali would have a max crew of 14 and the Carrack with a max of 12... But either way, the thought process behind the Tali when they were designing it wasn't that deep which is what I thought the rework was going to address.
