I recently bought one of those Navajos from Ebay because I also always wanted one. I resurrected my CB shack from 1977 with that one intended as my flagship but never happened (had 2 Midland mobiles instead). It sits along side of my vintage Heathkit shack and my regular ham shack. It was nice to see the clip on the Navajo CB radio. I can't speak for all the chicken banders that subscribe to your Channel, but I will say for myself that I hope to see maybe a short clip, of you actually breaking it down, and getting into it. I am not ham operator, but have owned several vintage transmitters. One being the kws1 by Collins, and a EF Johnson Viking Valiant. Both were used back in the mid to late 80s. I no longer have either of them, but my attraction for old Ham radio transmitters, and receivers has never ceased. That's why I subscribe to your channel, and often watch you refurbishing the particular items that I myself find cosmetically, and technically interesting. I'm not sure if that Navajo is the transceiver with the single meter, or the double meter. The one with the single meter is basically a Uniden Washington, and the one with the double meters is basically a unit in Madison. I'm fairly positive both are identical or almost identical internally, to both the washington, and the Madison. Thanks for another excellent clip. 73s

I will do a complete repair of the radio and post it. This classic deserves that. This one has the double meters. One is for swr. Had both the Madison and Washington years ago.

I remember the Navaho but mine was AM only. I have the same little radio but mine is called Tivdio but it is the same radio, sounds good and plays good.

Do you recall what you paid for the tivido? I'm curious as to the difference in price, if there is indeed a difference between the brand buddy reviewed in the clip, and the one you bought.

I had one of those rigs. bought it in the early 80's for around $300 bucks. had it modified with extra channels and used the clock as a freq counter display. also had the 458 and the computer rig 459. brings back a lot of great memories. looking forward to restro video.

The Chdc14b5a chip is the MP3 player IC. The other AKC chip was the radio IC. I have one of those radios and it’s a fun little guy. The RadioShack CB is a cool looking radio. I will be looking forward to the video on it. Nice work! 👍❤️📻

A Realistic Navajo. Interesting, I owned a 23 channel version with a gray metal cabinet back in the early 70s. This radio should be restored, looking forward to seeing the finished radio.

Hey Buddy the TRC-457 was a great improvement over the TRC-57 which was the 23ch and they only made them for a year. I’ve got 3 TRC-57 including a NIB example thats DOA and getting them to work is a PITA. Take care mate.

@@TheRadioShop Unless the new units have added this, this is NOT BT:it LOOKS like a BT antenna, but these radios do not have it....if you follow the Amazon link...there is no mention of BT on these. Beyond that, the SW performance varies widely from unit to unit:some are nearly useless on SW. They DO work quite well on AM and FM, and the MP3 player is quite usable as well. And yes, the sound quality is surprisingly good for somthing as inexpensive and as small as this is.
