No clue why I just watched a review on a set of walkie-talkie's in the middle of the night but I have to say this was a very nice review, would buy if I wasn't broke 10/10.

Sorry that you are broke. Check around to find out where the nearest Amateur Radio Club is in your area. Many of them are giving free Baofeng UV-5R walkie talkies to people who take a class with them and pass their FCC Technician License. (assuming you are in the US) Even if you can’t find a club that provides this service, that particular radio only costs $25.00. The radio in this video is for the non license radio service, meaning that it is low power and the antenna is fixed and non removable. This can be used for camping and hiking and similar activities. If you get the amateur license you can talk at much greater distances and with more power.

Where did you get the configuration software for the RT27, the version I have doesn't allow you to adjust the frequencies. This is the UK PMR446 version. I am trying to clone these to some Icom PMR IC-F29sr's that only use the first 8 channels, then channels 9-16 are the same 8 sets of frequency repeated but with different tones.

Poor review. Why did you not mention the use of the two orange buttons….Scan and moni ? The user manual is awful. Terrible use of English, completely unusable.

Use these for work at a construction site. 2 of the 6 radios make a beep when i press the PTT. Those same 2 radios don’t communicate with the others most of the time. Anyone know y this happens?

How did you get it into program mode. Mine won’t allow any changes to be made. Look like it needs a password to allow changes to be made. ????

As much as me loving ham radio, but failure to find enough people on air (including lockdown), and failure to find proper mentorship to figure out how to progress, made me decide to ditch this old hobby forever. Liked your channel, been pleasure following you. F*#k digital. 7 3, or whatever.

Try Hubnet, 145.687. Hopefully you have a repeater near you which is enabled for Hubnet, otherwise you will need a "hotspot" Once you've set it up, you can talk through your radio to others all around the world; I chatted to a VK2 near Canberra a couple of days ago. It IS cheating, because it uses VOIP, internet protocol to talk to others, but you soon forget that!

Thanks mate, but never mind. I seriously tried for the last few years and now totally gave up. Zello is even more fun and clearer. And in case of the zombie apocalypse, I still have my anytone 878, and might get the icom IC SAT 100 and that gsm/uhf hybrid phone (forgot the name).

I just bought these for my children to play with, because I had a pair from another brand and whatever channel they used there was some wierdo shouting rude things and calling their names back. How can I set these so that others cant just go on the same channel and talk back, also to stop them listening? Thanks

Normally, to programme a repeater into a radio, one needs a shift function to be put in. I can't see anywhere to put a + or - !
@TechMindsOfficial
@TechMindsOfficial 4 жыл бұрын
There’s no need for a shift function in this case because the TX and RX frequency is being manually specific. A shift would normally be used if only programming an RX frequency.

@@TechMindsOfficial If you don't mind buying 3 or 4 since they are cheap and throw away them as they fail, no problem. The issue is QUALITY and RELIABILITY. There are *absolutely* scores of people with reviews that showcase the complete *grabbag of problems* that the cheap chinese junk has - it simply comes with the cheap price tag. Its all about high volume and low quality to get the price down. If you don't mind low quality and poor reliability, then you can always justify 'well I got it cheap !!' and yes you did; but for situations where you need it for reliability and simply cannot tolerate constant failures and shoddy workmanship, then its time to pony up more money. Moreover, its always apparent that the quality of signal in receiver sensitivity, selectivity, and overall power conversion efficiency is better from well known, decades proven companies (American, Japanese, and European) that will not trade off quality and reliability simply as their reputation cannot afford to lose customers ! With cheap chineese junk its all about volume sales and they can lost hundreds of thousands of customers since they are selling MILLIONS.

Whatcwas the Distance on the Test?
@TechMindsOfficial
@TechMindsOfficial 4 жыл бұрын
I didn’t do a distance test as terrain will make a difference and will vary for every user, so there’s no point seeing how far 500mw can go in open space. Hope that makes sense :)

@@TechMindsOfficial isnt the effective distance part of the Review? I havent got the Sets ,hence watching your Vid, would have been a bit of a Misguidance if Radios were only cpl Houses apart
@TechMindsOfficial
@TechMindsOfficial 4 жыл бұрын
The distance in the actual test was around 500 meters, across an open field. The outside test was more for audio quality while out in the open, which is why I never mentioned distance in the video. However, if enough people want to see some range tests I’ll gladly do another video on ranges. :)

Where ? What country are you in ? In the US the GMRS walkie talkie license is for 5 watt radios. Amateur walkie talkies which are 5 watts require a license with a test.
