@@this_time_imperfect I don't think Canada uses PMR, more likely FRS, but best to check with your countries regulatory body.

This is a VHF radio that will operate on the US MURS frequencies, however it is not optimized for the US market. The antenna is not removable as permitted by US MURS, and it’s only a half watt. The MURS radios are permitted 2 watts.

Since you have both of the radios, how would you compare the RT27 vs RT17? If you would put them side by side, which one has better sound quality and range? I am in US and I like the look of RT17 better then RT27, but from your videos RT27 sound is more pleasing then RT17.

I much prefer the Retevis RT17 over the RT27, keep in mind that in the US you can benefit from a higher output power of up to 2 watts, see here: ➜ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Family_Radio_Service

I've tested the new retevis rt648 against the rt24 and the rt24 wins hands down the antannae on the rt648 is only a 2inch coil in the tubing which is made to look longer than it actually is in reality same size antannae as the Motorola hunter.

Just a point the r.t27 antannae is actually one and a half inches approx so a lot of the antannae tubing is wasted space. A few of the retevis radios with fixed antannaes are exactly the same including the rt24 which has half an inch of wasted tubing which also serves no purpose .
@ReviewTechTV5 жыл бұрын
What wavelength would that be? Because PMR 446 is in the 70cm band I would have guessed the antenna is a 1/6 wavelength (11.2cm) (4.4 inches) or at least a 1/10 wavelength (6.7cm) (2.6 inches).
@ReviewTechTV5 жыл бұрын
So you are saying it is even small right?
@michaelloughlin7345 жыл бұрын
@@ReviewTechTV a lot of my pmr 446 radios have smaller antannaes inside the rubber tubing just so antannaes are made to actually look longer the rt27 has been the biggest culprit by far for this.these operate on e.u pmr 446 0.5w.

For the best performance, consider radios that allow for external antennas or higher power output such as CB radios.

Just a point about these rt27 pmr radio when you're on ch3 it opens up ch7 and ch8 on other radios I'm baffled why it is doing this.
@mikesey15 жыл бұрын
It's probably programmed incorrectly. I had to stick one of mine on the computer and programme the channels to their proper places. I also bumped-up the power to two watts on both radios, it makes a difference to the range of these; no worries, nobody will know 😁
