I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for.

I feel your pain mate, as a fellow retiree, I’d suggest you look into passive index fund investing and learn some more. For me, I had my share of ups and downs when I first started looking for a consistent passive income so I hired an expert advisor for aid, and following her advice, I poured $30k in value stocks and digital assets, Up to 200k so far and pretty sure I'm ready for whatever comes...

A lot of people in the comments are complaining that they’re not getting rich off of this and then they go ahead and say they’ve got like 5 or 10 grand invested. You’re not going to get any return for that amount. If you want good returns for investing in real estate, you have to put in the same money as if you owned 2 or 3 houses. And fundrise hasn’t been around that long and the time they have been around they have seen a pandemic, a housing boom, and reduction of home values. Invest 2,000,000 and keep it there for 20 years and you’ll see some respectable returns! Or invest $500 a month without stopping. If you people want real estate returns you gotta put in real estate money.

….if Fundrise can’t deliver respectable returns on $10K for me at 7 years, why do you believe they would if I invested $100k? For me and many others, the low dollar investment was a trial run- which the helped us realize Fundrise is just a ponzy scheme with bot reviews propping them up.

I agree, it's passive income you don't have it to spend you invest that money back annuallyAbsolutely, it's a form of passive income. Instead of spending it, you should reinvest that money each year to grow your wealth. You are better at finding local property and renting small starting off than going after a small apartment. Then you scale till you can do real estate.

@Wi2Low for me it’s really bad. Factor in inflation and I lost money. I underperformed a savings account. Not worth the time for 5 years just to receive nothing for it. people here complaining of a 5% return… the first thing you should do is to not only put money once but also buy all the way down and up. It is not a good strategy to just buy a lump sum and wait. Put a lump sum AND keep investing AND if you don’t have time for fundamental analysis diversify.

Is there any advantage to this you are aware of over simply buying a REIT fund on the public market? Many pay high monthly dividends and you can close your position any time. The five year waiting period to withdraw any money invested seems like a distinct disadvantage over a publicly traded fund unless fundrise can actually promise you something for keeping your money tied up that long
@Retipster12 күн бұрын
Great question. I haven't done enough REIT fund investing to say for sure... but I can definitely see the disadvantages of the eREIT model like this, especially being unable to touch the money for 5 whole years.

This is exactly my thoughts. This just seems like an inferior version of an already existing product. REITs seem superior to this in every way.

After 4 years in Fundrise, I have seen a 5% decline on my $10000 investment. Overall, it's rather meh. I like the idea, but it's just too slow and too little. I attribute the 5% decline obviously to 2023/2024 in which the market sucked, but even before then, the gains were not really seeing they'd be worth it. I'll just take out later and invest in something a bit more steady, even if just as slow.

I’m at 4.6-4.9 decline! Depends on the month I’ve been in since 2020. I stopped because I buy property myself and I was getting way better returns. I invested because it was 100 %passive I have around only $3,000 but that was early on. The returns didn’t make since so I stopped but just let it sit. Still isn’t doing anything
