@@bpk_408 fine with it, ill remove when it gets closed. people who had sgb are still holding it and can sell it anytime. anyway i aint gonna dump a shit load of money in this thing which doesn't allow me to fully bail out my money, gonna do MF instead.

Not being able to decide what i can do with 100% of my own corpus is a big Red flag for me. Return percentages of Annuity (when i retire) are the helm of the not so trusted companies of this country.

The only drawback that I see is if I quit my job and don't intend to work for any company in the future, I don't get to have all the money withdrawn. I believe some flexibility should be provided for withdrawal of the full amount till the age of say 45 or 50. If we don't exercise such an option, then it can continue being like what normally NPS works.
@varsitybyzerodha2 күн бұрын
You're right, early withdrawals are restricted in NPS to ensure long-term financial security. To balance this, consider diversifying your retirement corpus with investments that offer more liquidity.

I have one question, as in EPF some amount is added by me and some by my company in the similar way can I my company add money per month on my NPS account if he/she agrees for this. And 1 more thing can I close my EPF account if I am doing NPS. Please clarify these thing as it will be very helpful. Thanks.
@varsitybyzerodha7 сағат бұрын
Yes, your employer can contribute to your NPS if the company has opted for the Corporate NPS Model, but you cannot close your EPF account as it is compulsory for salaried employees earning ₹15,000/month (basic salary) and mandatory for companies with 20 or more employees.

NPS Vatsalya tax benefits?
@varsitybyzerodha7 сағат бұрын
NPS Vatsalya does not offer the same tax benefits as regular NPS. At present, there are no tax benefits for parents under NPS Vatsalya, and the government is yet to provide clarity. Hopefully, the upcoming budget will offer more details.

NPS used to be EEE. Now minimum 40% corpus needs to go to buy annuity and momthly pension is taxable. Also old regime could be done with in max 2-3 years. Dont invest in NPS, I am regretting my decision. Just buy MF instead, you have freedom to take out money whenever you need

What if the govt decides to close this scheme like SGB. For past 1yr no SGB because govt got negative returns through SGB and Mr.das ex rbi governor got a blow from FM ...So NPS is not a way to evade tax it's another way to increase revenue for govt and ditch the so called middle class

NPS is another organised loot by the government. You pay 5000 monthly and it turns to 6cr your return will be 12% but you can only withdraw 60% (3.6CR) now your returns are down to 10% . The remaining balance you have to make an annuity purchase current annuity returns are 6% maximum if you choose return of premium it will be reduced to 5%. And this returns are taxed based on your slab. Instead of NPS you can invest in index fund can generate more than this and have more control on the money. Make wise choice. Better pay the tax and get your money when needed.
@pushkarerande1232 күн бұрын
People who are putting money in NPS are fooling themselves for small tax deduction. *** Disadvantages : 1. Mandatory lock-in is upto when person becomes 60 years old, so NO LIQUIDITY, no access to that money if needed in between. 2. Major difference : It is a government scheme. NOT a government backed scheme. Meaning the returns do not have sovereign guarantee. Returns are based on underlying assets, which are mainly equity, so...volatile. 3. Even if it seems that returns are tax free upon maturity, 40% amount goes into annuity scheme, which gives 5.5% return (taxable). Remaining 60% amount HAS to be invested somewhere. If we keep that 60% in bank savings account, currency depreciation will decrease its value within next few years. Also, returns on that 60% invested amount will be taxable. ___ All in all, no guarantee of returns due to dependence on stock market, no liquidity and 40% amount goes to annuity which gives average 5.5% returns. The scheme suks. Better to invest in separate investment schemes like FDs, open ended mutual funds, bonds for retirement.

it's just use less. No matter your tax bracket... Since it's a long term investment, go for nifty fifty MF.
