They all die for us, they will die protecting their families, their homes their nations, as would we, all we need to do is help them. I'm not from the US and surely not on the Russian side, but rather than discussing how Trump might not be the best to solve the situation... what's the current plan or even an alternative one? Keep giving Ukraine arms and hope they win against Russia (now with extra North Korean support)? Do the US top military really believe that's going to end well? How many more years of war do the US (and their military complex) want to have in Europe? I personally only see 3 outcomes: 1. Peace treaty, where most likely Russia will claim at the very least the Russian speaking areas (Donbas, etc...). 2. Russia pushes further and eventually Ukraine gives up. 3. NATO (so also the US) put boots on the ground, which opens the risk of a more global conflict. I unfortunately don't see any scenario where Ukraine on its own (just with arms support) can win the war... unless of course the regime changes in Russia and they decide (for whatever reason) to give up. Unless of course the folks that actually count in the US want to turn Ukraine in anotehr Vietnam or Afghanistan, read: a way to keep a stady income via production of extra arms/military equipment.

Stop saying that NATO countries are expected to PAY 2% of their GOP. They are expected to SPEND 2% of their GOP increasing and improving their country's military, so that they can come to the aide of other NATO countries should they be attacked. There is no clause in the NATO contract that they must go to the aide of other countries however, even if they have the best and most well equipped military. So if these countries don't meet the 2%, they don't owe any country or NATO money. They have just underspent on their own military and resources.
