I am personally not that worried about US support for Ukraine being withdrawn the real damage for western security would be if the US would try to obstruct European support for Ukraine after a failed peace proposal. We need answers to a few questions: Does Trump allow weapons sales to Ukraine if others pay for it. Does Trump ban US components from being in European weapons sent to Ukraine. Does Trump try to strong arm European countries into supporting a bad peace. The first of those three are bad but if trump blocks US components we will see a major shift in US/EU+ relations. There are already moves in Europe to de-integrate the European defence industry from the US defence industry because of limits set by the Biden administration. If Europe can't trust US components in it's weapons when carrying out it's national security needs Europe won't by US weapons, at least not the more sophisticated one's. If the US strong arms European countries into supporting a bad peace that will lead to very bad blood with a lot of countries especially countries in Eastern and Northern Europe. This isn't the middle east where Europeans don't give a damn really this is Europe's backyard. Imagine DeGaule telling President Kennedy to hand over Guantanamo to Cuba as part of the Cuban Missile Crisis settlement and to create a buffer state patrolled by Canadians in the Florida Key's

I don’t understand why I keep hearing people say the US pulling out of NATO would be the end of the alliance. I should think the remaining members would feel even more threatened and have a stronger reason to remain in a defence alliance with other friendly countries.

This is the guy who once claimed that the top 5 floors of the UN can and should be eliminated to increase efficiency of the organization. Put simply, he was a bomb thrower. Surely there are more competent individuals with proven expertise in foreign policy this commentator could have interviewed.

As Commander In Chief, Trump can order American military and naval forces home the same way Biden did in Afghanistan. And they will come. Perhaps the US Navy will patrol the northwest half of the Atlantic, as it did in 1940-1941.

Interesting chess set in the background. Few people know that the person behind the odd walrus-style moustache is actually the seasoned political strategist and master of the game who created the celebrated Bolton Opening: 1) P-KN4 P-K4 2) P-KB3 He first tried his opening playing white against the russian master Vodksy Gotschyurov, but accidentally spilled all the pieces and had to be unjustly disqualified. Trump said that at one point he went to see Putin and took him along to use him very much like Putin used his dog to frighten Mrs. Merkel, but Putin actually stood his ground and threw him a fish instead of panicking.

Instead of withdrawing from NATO, Trump could just reduce American defence spending to the NATO targeted minimum of 2%.

Europe pays heavily for the US protection with bad terms of trade and by not reacting to protectorist US acts with a trade war. These trillions have to be considered. But it's to complicated for trump.

USA should make a law that any president who plans to go to war should add his sons, daughters, family members including his ministers sons and daughters to the front line. With this no leader will take USA to an unnecessarily wars. They will think and talk about peace first.

If the member nations of NATO won't pay for their fair and reasonable share of the defence burdens and expenses , why do we as a nation owe it to them or the EU to give them a free ride ? Baffling ! 😅

With over 27 countries in the EU they should be able to form their own defense alliance without the US leading the helm. The US need to focus on the issues on its own home front.
@biboygonzales2370Ай бұрын
Trump’s policy of allowing EU member countries to take care of its own security is correct. It reposition NATO from a offensive position back to a defensive position. An opportunity for US to redirect its resources address its domestic needs than foreign.
@georgewashington-v3dАй бұрын
The EU could help things and share the expenses for their defense. I don't care much for Trump, but he does make a valid point. Allowing Russia to defeat Ukraine would be wrong on every level.

I cant understand why anyone thinks fascist Don has the power to end any war, or that U.S. aid actually has any bearing on the matter. I believe that Europe will and should step up in every way, and that the ultimate say in NATO should DEFINITELY NOT be up to the now fascist United States.
@robr177Ай бұрын
The US can't leave NATO without both Congress and the Senate having a super-majority (two-thirds) voting for it. This law was put in place just last year - specifically because of Trump's threats.
