My late father practically rebuilt Snodland, Cuxton and Aylesford signal boxes by himself back in the 70's, indeed Snodland was his prized piece and he would be there on relief from Cuxton putting in new glazing or retiling the roof and he fitted the flushing loo to replace the ol' thunderbox cess type. Sometimes he would be on off moments out with the paintbrush on the crossing gates and everything just gleamed and smelt brand new. He was promised once upon a time the Home signal from Cuxton by some manager back in the mists of time but he never got it and now he's gone around the same time as his last box London Bridge finishing full circle starting as box boy at North Kent Jnc (where railway signalling began) becoming passed out on ludicrous amounts of signal boxes at grade, he loved the railways but his heart was broken when offered the signalling manager job at Edinburgh Waverley which was blocked aggressively by the unions, rotten way to treat a bloke who had to be tied down to have a sick day.

Apparently Nodrog has done couple videos about signal boxes and yeah some of them have been demolished and replaced by new signalling systems and new signalling centres have opened that has created new jobs and to loop after the railways.

New jobs aren't created, it's the exact opposite. Nothing much wrong with replacing a dozens of boxes with a workstation done properly that's just 'progress'.

I love signal boxes!! , but unfortunately Everything as a expiry date including you !

Obviously they can't be operational and will be switched out, but the demolition of many of these boxes is unnecessary.

@@szymongorczynski7621 yes I agree with that . Its a good job we have some great heritage railways around the UK so some can go to them and carry on in a new life.
