Similar to you, 47 Yr old ex skater, ex fb'er that has recently picked up tech decks for xmas for my son and myself, and quickly got in to the foam gt, wooden boards, (mostly china stuff and a teak complete pro deck) rubber pivot cups, bearing wheels, and the vast array of pricier stuff is calling! 😅 Main thing helped me get more consistent with two fingers after using 3 before, is consistently curling away the other fingers, which just get in the way, esp when doing deep scoops and kicks. This allows for far greater rotation of hand and improved all my tricks, most notably kick flips, impossible, switch nolly, and hard flips, really notice the difference on a flat surface

Be glad you chose a g16 for your first because it’s a beast however when you get extra money and also better get that black river board set up as well. I think you’ll appreciate the black river realistic graphic wear in the future since you were a skater.

Thanks for commenting man! I think I will keep the Blackriver deck and get some trucks and wheels for it in the future. I definitely appreciate the craftsmanship of the board. Maybe it can become my "bowl" setup who knows... I just feel so stupid having spent so much money on fingerboarding haha.

I just got back into fingerboading as well cause i can’t go out to skate as much as i want to anymore. Sick tricks man! 🎉

Just on the free spin - you’re right, it doesn’t matter if they don’t. If anything it can make it a pain in the ass when you don’t land a trick and the board goes running off because they spin so well 😂 as long as they feel smooth and are quiet, it’s all good

I liked it in the beginning when I was skating transitions and doing air tricks but for more street tricks on flat I think I prefer quiet wheels : )

Also definitely get some good wheels, I’ve always used black river trucks and recently dynamic but then china trucks are probably ok but definitely get good wheels.

i’ve been riding those trucks as well ever since i discovered them. very little difference in quality compared to black river or dynamic in my opinion for a fraction of the price
