Had rotator cuff surgery at Bumrungrad. Arrived at BKK airport 7am and got to Bumrungrad about 10am. That day met with the doctor, did all bloodwork, Xrays, MRI, etc, etc. Next morning at 0500am they were wheeling me into the operating room. Just fantastic professional service. And big bonus points.....lots of hot nurses:):)

I had my left knee replaced at Bumrungrad the end of 2017 after enduring three years of bone on bone knee pain. In early 2019 I went back to Bumrungrad to have bone spurs removed from my right knee before too much cartilage wore out and all is still good. Also, I had LASIK surgery on both eyes in 2008 at Bumrungrad when I was 49 and I am now 64 and both eyes I still see perfectly.

Back when i lived in Chiang Mai in 2018, my galpal who was Thai needed back surgery for a nagging injury... i convinced her to go to a hospital that a few friends had backsurgery and 1 hour after MRI, saw the doctor and he explained everything too her and suggested a certain type of surgery.. Instead of waiting months like we do, or years in the states.... he asked if she was ready to have surgery Tomorrow.... she ended up having it the next monday...Great success and price

Most of medical practitioners (md, surgeons, dentists, pharmacists etc.) are in the top 1% of the worker pyramid in Thailand. Lots of specialists graduated from North America or Europe so apart from some specific equipments, expertise and skills are at top notch (for private hospitals). The government has to subsidize the cost of medical care so it is accessible by its people so that's why it's very popular for the westerns. Our approach is a hybrid between US and EU, we have public healthcare system (lower QoS due to the number of patients) and private hospitals (better QoS and expensive for locals but considerably cheap for westerns).

I am from Thailand living in the US. I reviewed the Everhealth Care website and was impressed that all the Thai hospitals they listed are very good hospitals. I went to Korea with an agency for medical treatments. When I compare the service and the care I received, I prefer Thailand. In Korea, it seems the doctor avoided talking to me. The nurse never come to check on me. I had to bang in the wall to call for attention because the device use to call a nurse that they gave to me after the surgery fell off and I couldn’t call a nurse to help me with the pain.

Great job Chris. Actually there are 66 JCI Accreditation hospitals in Thailand and all of them have great doctors and services (it depends on what you're looking for). Of course all of them are private hospitals, as I remember in 1992 Thailand have only 3 or 4 JCI accreditation hospitals and look how many they have now. I had positive experiences with these Thai hospitals myself and would recommend everyone to try. If you are looking for good doctor good service and value for your money.

I had a full dental restoration that included 2 abstractions, 3 root canals, 5 upper and 6 lower restorations, 5 crowns, and 5 - YES FIVE - implants, and saved at least $50 thousand dollars if done in the U.S. More importantly, the dentist was Western trained, spoke perfect English, had 3 assistants with me at all times, and the technology was state-of-the-art. It was a wonderful experience and I will NEVER pay NY prices and suffer their pitiful and indifferent care again. BTW, my implants were $685. each - earlier this year (2023). Not the $1950. listed in this video. So you can get even better deals too.

Link to objective stats-data to confirm that please. ,I would imagine best hub depends on patient location, distance to travel, procedures needed. Clearly in north america central and south america offer expertise and world class facilities and much closer than Thailand. A US doctor I know says in medicine beware of "red flag statements" like "best medical hub of the world" He said doctors are taught to be especially leery when they see such superlative statements.

If you live in the US, please CHECK if your insurance will cover some of your health costs in Thailand. Case in point. In 2019 a dental crown would cost me $1200 in the state where I live. With my dental insurance, I would pay $857 there. I had my crown done at Bangkok's Thantakit Dental Clinic. With their 10% cash discount I paid $568.93. My dental insurance reimbursed me $332.16 for this 'out of network' service for the crown. My final cost was $236.77. This is not an isolated case. In 2015 I had a comprehensive physical exam done at Bangkok General Hospital costing $592.45 where I was diagnosed with pneumonia. A few months later after filing a claim, my Blue Cross affiliated plan reimbursed me $520.92. My final cost was $71.53.

I went to Mexico to get dental work done. I hadn’t been to a dentist in ten years and got two cleanings, 8 cavities filled, a root canal and teeth whitening done for 1,700.00$. The best part was the attitude of the dentist. After light hearted joking about what an idiot I was for not going to a dentist for ten years she took such great care of me and I didn’t feel judged at all. Also since a lot of pain killers are available in the pharmacy without prescription you can go and buy painkillers or whatever you want by the pill for after the procedure. Go see Dr. Francis if you are ever in Rosarito Mexico.

Good choice I had dental work done in Thailand second to none great treatment had a few root canals and bridge work, the root canals where performed by a dentist who only works with root channels and the other work the same bridgework specialist, when they administered the Novocain a young lady assistant at the side of me started tapping me on my shoulder and totally distracted me at the time of the jabs and each whole procedure was pain free and professional the pricing is also more then reasonable, good luck and congratulations for your new pearly smile.

Interesting subject, an a lot of choice. Here in NL you can't chose your specialist (even not the dentist!) and we have a very very long waiting time (sometimes 9 months for specific examinations).

I wonder about that , in my perception, medical issue is something to check as soon as possible. In Thailand , we can walk in to any hospital and every one will see a doctor to check symptom first , any specific examination may be appointed after that if its not serious sickness and can be waited. At least, patients know that they are not in serious sickness and get some medicine to heal or take advice from doctor before coming again for next appointment if further examination or follow up is needed. Its better to call for making appointment in advance, Walk in will also see doctor but it may take long time for queue. Recently I just know that in some countries , seeing doctor is not easy and also expensive. Then I have realized that how hard- working Thai dictors do, especially in the governed hospitals in up country that full of poor people who have no money to get in a private hospital same as many in Bangkok . Appreciate those doctors.

@@SuperDorame Thai people They have atleast $1 promotion(for whatever type of illnesses) for every Thai but random hospital(cannot choose). And there are m38, m39, m40 if you want to upgrade or you have a job, there are variety of choices if you want but most of the local Bangkok workers who has a normal job here in Bangkok(income about us$800-us$2000 per month) most of them pay extra fees for their insurance and I believe most of the Bangkok people who has a good job in Bangkok(us$2,000-us$100,000 per month) all of them has many particular insurance.

For me to look for a specialist in Medellin was that the referral process here in LA takes about 3 months, has very high deductibles plus, the cost of the treatment when a insurance company denies the claim. In Colombia I was able to see a dermatologist the within a day the consultation, treatment and medication was only $110.00.

Perfect timing! I was just starting to look into a visit for a medical procedure. Only question I have after watching is how they handle scheduling. Do they consult via video-conferencing or do you have to fly to Thailand for an initial consultation, then fly out again for the procedure?

Ever Health is some kind of tour agent that makes it convenient for neo medical tourists to get treatment in Thailand at affordable costs. However, for decades there have been several leading private hospitals offering such services through words of mouth reputation and these hospitals are still doing roaring business right now as they have extensive contacts with several countries. Another option is to get treatment from leading teaching hospitals in Bangkok such as Siriraj, Chula and Rama. They do cater for international patients and all staffs speak English at their international division. All those experts in private hospitals all go through these 3 medical schools for their first medical degree before they study aboard to get specialist certificate, mostly in the US, UK and Japan. Of course, their teachers in Thailand's 3 leading teaching hospitals also got specialist certificates from US, UK, Japan before returning to continue their teaching/treating patients in these 3 leading hospitals.

For UK residents, Thailand would only be chosen for cosmetic or dental work as all other health matters are free at point of delivery - there may be waits but for vital/urgent treatment these shouldn't be too great. Add to this the fact that should things go wrong all other services to deal with the problems are at hand and, of course, free.
