Tour through unknown Bangkok, the part of the city few people visit. It's amazing and the best way to do it is on a bike tour with my friend Wat.
We eat a lot of local Thai street food, we tour on the other side of the Chao Phraya River, and we learn more about Thai history and culture. Wat explains how Buddhism impacts everyday Thai life.
This is the top 25 things to do in Bangkok and now we are into the Top 10. So watch all these videos and you'll be able to plan your perfect trip to Bangkok. This is your ultimate Thailand Travel Guide.

Welcome across the river, Chris! I moved to this part of town almost 15 years ago and have loved every minute since. Thonburi is where general (later king) Taksin established the new capital after the fall of Ayutthaya in 1767, before the capital was moved across the river by king Rama 1 in 1782. Trivia: Pierce Brosnan, aka 007 James Bond, beat you to this area by about 25 years as parts of Thonburi was used as a stand in for Ho Chi Minh City in Tomorrow Never Dies. Sin Sathorn Tower on Krung Thonburi rd. near the Krung Thonburi BTS station was villain Elliot Carver’s HQ in HCMC. One of the motorcycle chase scenes was actually shot right next door to where you had your morning coffee with Khun Wat. Keep up the great work, stay happy, and keep enjoying wonderful Bangkok, mate!

This is the tour on the Thonburi side. The Portuguese old quarter and Wat Kalayanimit are near the Chao Phraya river as it should be because those days, the river and canals are essential means of travelling and thus there are plenty of communities living near the river and canal. There are 2 types of Tom Yam, clear broth and thick broth. Most people see/eat thick broth tom yam.

"Santa Cruz Church (Wat Kudichin)," Santa Cruz being a Portuguese word that means "Holy Cross." Santa Cruz Church is a historic Catholic church that was constructed in 1770 after King Taksin the Great granted the Portuguese a plot of land on which to construct their first church. It was originally all teak, but it was later burned, so it was rebuilt with a cement structure, with Renaissance and Neoclassical architectural styles dominating. The top of the red dome is remarkable. It resembles the dome of Florence Cathedral in Italy.

Actually Thai people have recipe that use spices ingredient more than thousand year ago. Spices are product from local plant such as chilli ,peppers , garunga , lemongrass , Thai people well known and taken them to cook chilli paste. Why hollanda and Portuguese have race to colonize java and sumatra in Indonesia last 500 years ago , cause there were the land of spices, they need to trade spices and sent to trade in Europe that brought wealth to them.

I sure can relate to the food stops along the tour. I'm married to a Thai. A few years back we visited some friends on Staten Island. We took the ferry to Manhattan, which lands near the start of Broadway. Looking at Google Maps today, we couldn't have walked more than 2000 ft up Broadway and she had already stopped 3 places for food.😀
