So glad to see her at the museum rather than being scrapped. I will be visiting the museum early next year.

I am so glad that Delta has done this. I have not made the trip to their museum yet, but I really want to see it sometime.

Without 747s people will lose interest in flying.

I've heard of super tugs, but never seen one in action. Thanks for the post. The 747 was a ground breaking design, to coin a phrase, and a beautiful, gigantic bird. So glad Delta decided to preserve her. She sure looked forlorn with those two outer engines gone, though.

She should be parked At MSP. That's her home. She's a Redtail afterall.

747-451 as displayed on the builder plate. Which you would see on the front galley the Builder plate. A DL owned B747-8 as displayed on the Builder plate would have been a B747-832 32 Boeing customer code for DL. In EWR the B747-8 does EWR-FRA

You can see the registration number at 8:44. First flight date is 29 April 1988. Delta obtained this in the merger with Northwest Orient.

Northwest Airlines, not Northwest Orient

That means that this is one of the first, if not the first, 744 delivered. Northwest was the launch customer for the type.

aw man, i had expected to see that thing where the firefighters line up at the side of the plane and spray the water over it making an arch like shape like most airlines do when they retire an aircraft.

@@AJ-zx4pl To provide hydraulics for the aircraft's brakes. This is standard procedure for towing an airliner, in case the brakes go out on the tug, there is a person "brake riding" in the pilot's seat for this reason.

I got the card there would be two ways to get to Manila from Newark Airport the Northwest airline route via Tokyo and Detroit or straight all the way via Guam. When doing this the return trip Manila to Newark the immigration officer at Guam will ask if you are bringing in Filipino food products to the US. From there it's pretty much a domestic flight Guam to Newark
