Paula, your ability to ask the right questions and to elicit useful information is impressive. And it's a skill that's especially important with an interviewee like this one, whose answers often miss the mark.

Paula did an outstanding job: 1) Selected a calm, rational, well-reasoned researcher, the famous Wade Pfau 2) Let him talk 3) Asked terrific questions that drilled into what we want to know. e.g. "You recommend annuities but they have high cost structures, don't they?" 4) Let him answer. Wade made the careful distinction (which Paula probably already knew) that longevity annuities have low, embedded fees. Variable annuities, well.... 5) Summarized key points at the end. My only suggestion is that you publish the time-hack of the summary, for the people who don't have an hour to spend. I did have that hour and listened to it all. It was well-spent. Now I'm going to listen to Paula's other videos to find out if they are as super-quality as this one....

Try and find fixed annuity line. A annuity loan may be easier to get fixed rate

I still think a Reverse Mortgage is another form of debt you would be taking on in retirement....Plus the fees you have to pay to initiate it.

Excessive luquidity is the main reason for the recent movement of stock market. For people who's jobs are still there have a lot more cash than before. Fed's interference in both money printing and investing in stock market exacerbate the problem.

Why have a cash buffer? It loses value due to inflation. Why not put a 1 year buffer in gold and sell it in when you need it? Gold holds value and is generally high when markets are down - which is when you're more likely to need it anyway.

I am 51 and retired 2 months ago after Cryptocurrency trading changed my life forever. Last month through professional advisory from a licensed broker, I made 20% profit from my start up capital and this would continue consecutively. The goal is financial freedom, happy I’m applying knowledge through this journey.

Hi Leon, This is a great story considering what’s going on around the world right now. I am working towards retiring pretty soon too, how does one go about cryptocurrency trading?

@Trey Thank you for your kind words, The fun thing about cryptocurrency trading is that there is always someone to guide you on the right path. Here is what I’ll advise: Get yourself some capital. Talk to a licensed broker(I can refer you to a very good one that I am currently working with). Always ask questions when things don’t seem clear to you. Have a positive mindset. Let me know if you need assistance in anyway.

Leon, I have heard a few things about cryptocurrency but never had the interest to seek for professional help. 3 questions 1. How much capital did you start with? 2. Is 20% the standard profit you’ll make from time to time? 3. How can I get more knowledge about this? I am very much interested.

@Trey To answer your questions: 1. The capital I started with was 10,000$ and everything has been excellent so far. 2. The percentage of profit you make solely depends on the performance of other traders, now is the best time to go for it as things are pretty intense. 3. You can get more knowledge by talking to a licensed broker, as i mentioned earlier on, I know a very good one and I am open to making referrals.

The best way to plan right for retirement is through the guidance of a financial coach or investment adviser, I stopped working since the pandemic and turned to spend most of my time on working on my passion for exquisite painting, working with an honest consultant is a blessing, putting my money in the right places, and 2years later, I'm currently living off my investments which brings in a return of about $500,000 annually.
