In 2019, the year I turned 60, the hospital I worked for offered retirement insurance at 60! After 37 years of nursing and thankfully with financial planning through the years I was able to retire on my 60th birthday. My husband retired at 58 as a school teacher/coach. We still live active lives and spend time with our friends and family. Retirement includes travel to Marco Island last winter and have a home reserved this winter also! I love retirement!

The count down is for December 1! I feel ready, and I’m giving myself a transition period! I will be 63.5, wish I could have retired a little earlier, but I’m excited about my next chapter! Health becomes so important and I wish in my 50’s I’d paid more attention, but never too late to up my game. Thanks for all the great conversations on quality of life in this phase!

The drinking thing means no more that 2 drinks/day. Most peeps hear that drinking extends your life and use that as a reason to get hammered everynight. Alcohol is distilled and thins the blood. Moderation is the key. Two factors matter the most for longevity: VO2 max, and strength. VO2 max comes with working out. Strength comes with lifting weights. 5th leading cause of death over age 75 is trauma due to simple falls.... Lift and workout. Have a drink on occasion.

I was burned out was going to retire when I moved from North to South but my job let me work remote. Lost the 2 hr. / day commute and much less stressful. Walk 5-6 miles / day get to play frisbee with our dog. Have a pool. Working remote is like a working vacation where I'm located. The Grand Kids are here and my Wife retired and does a lot of the chores while I work. She living her dream gardening and planting flowers.

Good content and so true. Will working one more year be worth taking that healthy year off at the beginning and trading it for an older year, maybe not so healthy…but with a couple more bucks? Time vs. Money. You decide. I’m on team “Retire Now”… and I did… just last Monday, April 1st. So happy and excited. It’s what I planned for years. 🎉

Don’t ever retire, I had a job I loved and worked until I was 80 and retired too early . Happily retired and now 93 and have thoughts of starting my work again as a aeronautical design and certification engineer. My son has a job he loves and I advise him to work to the end of his days,

I'm in England. I semi retired at 52 and fully retire in December at 55. Why? Because life is too short. I think the alcohol thing is nonsense. Most of my best friends all died due to alcohol consumption. I don't drink alcohol at all and when I rarely see a doctor I get a round of approval from them for not drinking it.

All the things you name… clients, utube, affiliates, book writing, it sounds like you are not retired. You said 20 hours a week. I’d met it more with prep time. You just changed careers.

Drinking gives you a lot of empty calories without any nutrition. That's bad for health. Perhaps that is how it contributes to longevity.😊
@daw7773 Жыл бұрын
Two or less alcoholic drinks especially red wine helps to thin the blood and reduce the probability of developing a blood clot, improves circulation. The problem develops when men drink more than 2 drinks and women drink more than 1 drink per day for some people. The French drink wine both men and women several times a day and they are pretty heart healthy.
