FOLEGANDROS | Our Favorite Greek Island You Must Visit | Retirement Vlog #73

After watching this video we added 4 nights on Folegandros to our itinerary, and we’re so happy we did! We spent 4 nights on Milos (which we also loved), then carried on to Crete after. We flew to Milos, then travelled by ferry which we found very convenient. We stayed at Themonies boutique hotel. It was lovely restored farm buildings, with wonderful service and a short 10 minute stroll into Chora. The old town is beyond beautiful, and surprisingly large for an island of only 700 inhabitants. Although the island is tourism driven, it does not feel over-run. The beaches are incredible, especially the ones you have to hike to, and the scenery stunning. The terracing everywhere is remarkable! We were there at the end of September, just before everything closed up for the season, but the temperature was in the high 20’s. Thank you John & Bev for the suggestion. We also highly recommend Folegandros!

Wondering if you went to Folegandros from Athens or one of the Island’s? We will be in Syros and could ferry to Folegandros with a 3 hour stop in Santorini according to the ferry schedule, but I am wondering how sick I will get on the fast ferries! I do get car sick and will bring along meds but what was your experience? Do you think the three hour layover in Santorini is enough to catch a few good moments/pictures/lunch there? So excited for our trip to Greece!

We took the short ferry ride from Santorini to Folegandros. We didn’t have any sickness issues, but the seas weren’t bad and about 2-3 hours was our longest ferry. 3 hours isn’t much for Santorini, but you can get an Instagram shot and lunch. 🤣 Have fun and let us know how it goes. I ran across your channel when I searched Indy 500 experience. You guys are so fun to watch! I'm not a pro when it comes to making content, but I do know what I like to watch, and those T-shirts are not it. They don't look natural. Hello RT and thanks for the video. We just returned from a trip to Greece and had a great time. Folegandros is on a my Greek friends bucket list and now it is on ours. I was hoping to get "lost" on Folegandros for two weeks. Read some books and get as bored as possible. Getting "bored" and "lost" in the best possible sense. What do you think about two weeks? Also driving on the Greek Islands can be harrowing but I imagine Folegandros would be much better? Please share any thoughts you may have. Thanks again.

It is actually a perfect place to get both bored and lost. We didn’t have a car, but hiked a lot . It is too big to walk everywhere, but only has a few roads, little traffic and the towns are small. It is such a beautiful island. We would definitely go for 2 weeks, but the only drawback for us was very slow internet, which is problematic for our line of retirement work. 😉. We think we were there during the third week of April. It was truly glorious with the flowers, but even if you miss them, you'll love the island. It's one of our favorite places. John & Bev

Thanks for the video! We'll be visiting Folegandros in the fall. I know the island is very small, but did you feel you needed a car to get around? For instance, walking from Chora to Ano Meria, or Agkali? Or Korovastasis to Chora?

We got a ride from our host from the port to our place near Chora. It is a great island for hiking or running and you can get to those places, but it is a lot of hiking. There are some buses that run the main route as well, but not sure of the timing. Hope you have a great trip and would probably recommend staying in Chora area since it is centrally located.
