This is why I was heartbroken when Luke teaches Grogu to abandon attachment to Mando in the Mandalorian series. It hurt because I know that the REAL Luke has grown so far beyond those ancient tenets!

Obi-wan tells Luke in the Heir to the Empire trilogy "You are not the last Jedi of the old order, you are the first of the new". I like how it was Obi-wan's ghost last message to him, telling him to forge a new path for the Jedi.

The way Luke did things at his new Jedi order in the LEGENDS EU timeline was so much better than how Yoda did things in the old one in canon. I know Qui-Gon would've just LOVED it!

Qui Gon and Anakin both would have loved it tbh Yoda as well and Obi Wan in legends Obi Wan even told Luke he wasn't the last of the old jedi he was the first of the new Yoda and Obi Wan wanted Luke to fix where they have failed

That is definitely a great point. Attachments themselves are supposed to be a driving force in a healthy way because having loved ones to think of actually give a reason to fight and win it, plain and simple. Luke Skywalker's journey itself is a prime example because he has his friends, sister, and wife that actually helped him overcome his challenges, plain and simple. The Jedi of the past failed because their choice to ban attachment drove Anakin to the dark side, therefore, their banning attachments and dogmatic rules got them slaughtered. Luke Skywalker himself is definitely the true Jedi Master everyone needed because he knows what was best to rebuild, therefore, allowing attachments is the right step and that's what helps making him the true Jedi Grand Master.

It was Luke's attachment he developed for his father that led his father back to the Light Side. And that led to Anakin to finely fulfill his role as the Chosen One to bring balance to the Force by killing Palpatine. But I do understand where the old order was coming from. Attachment unchecked could lead one to the Dark Side. So for them it was easier to avoid attachment rather than deal with it and overcome the frivolous attachments people develop.

The old order should teach them how to deal with negative form of attachment if things go wrong one don’t become something worse or fall to the dark side.

And that my fellow jedi friends, is a great and wise leader. Luke was truly the jedi everyone needed. Love can become difficult for some, but it has such great passion, protection, and happiness . These positive feelings can greatly influence the jedi order and also show the galaxies citizens that these jedi are much more friendlier and more protective rather than relying on politics and stealing kids.

I really enjoyed this video is a new subscriber I like the new Jedi order that Luke started. I think it’s much better than the old Jedi order because I think I would feel the same if I had to forget my family and friends and I think that is so crazy if I was to be in a Jedi order, I think I would rather be with Luke’s Jedi order because there is more freedom, especially being able to contact your family if you still wish to end that is what I like about Luke’s Jedi order especially where you could have a family of your own and make the Jedi order grow. I think that is a better idea than the old ways of the Jedi order that was established so long ago.

I think another big part of his journey that gets looked over quite a bit is the fact that he was raised by two loving parents! Yes, he tends to have a lot of his father’s traits. I even see his mother’s when he confronts his father on Endor. But! You can see a fundamental difference in how Anakin was raised without a father and Luke was

It never made sense for me that luke fell to the dark, even in the legends continuity. Kinda destroys the significance of the events of episode 5 and 6 and him already dealing with the pull towards darkness. He literally tapped into the dark side due to his attachments for his sisters and vader taking advantage of it just for him to again be reminded of the power of the dark side later on? Even before Disney i believed it to be inconstant for him to outright fall.

I agree. I'm not a fan of Dark Empire, but unfortunately its part of the Expanded Universe continuity and its referenced several times in the Jedi Academy trilogy 🤦‍♂️

I mean it’s not as if he fell out of evil or rage like he almost did in ep 6. He faked turning to the dark side in order to infiltrate Palpatine’s plans, but only ended up falling because it became impossible to put on a believable charade without actually turning. At least when he turned in DE he didn’t commit any character assassination acts like in TLJ.

I agree. To ban attachment is a bad choice that is gonna get thousands killed. That's why a lot of Jedi die this way and that's why it was so easy for Palpatine to swoop in and slaughter an entire generation of the past Jedi, all he had to do is get rid of Qui Gon Jinn and have their dogmatic rules drive Anakin to his hands, and it's game over

Luke’s New Jedi order is much closer to their original credo. Long before Yoda there were entire Jedi families. It was the Clone wars era Jedi who had strayed from the teachings. Rather than mastering their emotions they simply stopped feeling at all.
