Custom built upper by JSE Surplus. A retro look that is a ton of fun to shoot and in my opinion a crazy cool looking rifle. Note: twist rate on this barrel is 1:9 (not 1:7 as mis-stated)

Nice!! I just built basically the same thing! C7 upper, Brownells A1 1/7 twist barrel, A1 surplus furniture, A2 lower. Love it!! Runs great and simple, light weight!

That's actually a C7 upper. (shell deflector)

I went full circle over the last 9-10 years and recently put together a 20". Now I have 10.5, 14.5, 16 & 20". My first time shooting 20" with iron sights in 30+ years. I only had 37 yards to shoot with but I'm very happy so far.

They really did have the right idea back in the 60s. In my experience, retro style ARs handle and shoot better then most modern type ARs. And with all the dumb bullshit people put on rifles now the, light weight of an M16 really shines. I will say, Canada really did treat the M16 better then the US. The C7 upper (Like you have) is MUCH better then the A2.

So NICE! love the old school look, want one of these too, Always liked the look of the triangle hand gaurd, bayo shits so cool XD Also, i have had mixed results with promag too, clear ones for AK would function , most of the time not reliable at ALL would be STUCK hard every single time when reloading have to smash it out, ive had them fail too for AR , The 40 rounder for SKS though, it feels thick, and it runs great so far, probly only few hundred through it but it surprised me so far! But AK an AR , just say NO to PROmag, SHIT sandwich mags, AK i like combloc steel AR pmags are good, as well as GI mags Awesome rifle though man! might assemble me one too !

I like it! I built one that's a mash up of a-1 and a-2 parts. A-2 upper with colt heavy barrel, stock, grip, A-1 forward assist, A-1 original triangle handguards and a PWS three prong flash hider. I love Both A2 and the A1 rifles, might make it more A1 down the road. I love the iron sights, pretty much dead on! Great build you have there!

I'm thinking- A2 upper and lower, govmnt 20" barrell, A1 furniture. Accuracy w/o all the weight. It may take awhile as most parts are out of stock. I've got to figure out how to justify it to the wife as I just bought another pistol LOL!

A nice A1 grip, and that bad boy will be solid

Three prong flash suppressor handy for popping the strapping bands on cases of C-Rats.

...I NOTICED the triggerguard (another 'ish' feature)...you've given me an idea...I have a number of lowers and might just do a clone upper build and wait a while on a retro receiver...I as issued an M16 A1 50/51 years ago in both basic and in Germany...my rifle in Bsic had an H&R receiver with a distinctive bluish grey finish...

Buying a upper from jse here soon. Unfortunately, I live in maryland, and a basic setup can be hard to find believe it or not. Not allowed to have bayonet lugs, and hbar barrels are required, so finding anything that is in stock configuration is a bit challenging. Especially now with everyone buying up rifles left and right.

1:7 twist. Nice 👍🏽
@drdrake634 жыл бұрын
AlabamaPilgrim333 I actually put the correct twist rate on the screen right after I said one in seven. It is one and nine
@AlabamaPilgrim3334 жыл бұрын
David Drake still better to stabilize than the period correct 1:11 I believe. Looks good.
@drdrake634 жыл бұрын
AlabamaPilgrim333 Yeah I believe with that 20 inch barrel one in nine is going to give the same amount of revolutions on the round as a one and seven will on a 16 inch barrel

Nice build but a build is never done which is good as the extra parts often morph into another AR! So I'd steer in the right direction and get an A1 style lower from NoDak Spud or Brownells and try to pull together a more authentic retro 1967-68 M16A1. If that's too much money at least get rid of that modern trigger guard and A2 pistol grip - cheap fixes and so much more authentic! (Not trying to be mean, it's just that they stick out like a red flag.) Edit: uh oh, the Spikes trigger guard is permanent. 1:9 twist is a nice upgrade over the original 1:12.

Hey, I know this video was put out a while ago, but what is the name of the old school... rail...I guess it's called. And how would you attach a light to it?
@michaeldanchez95302 жыл бұрын
There is no rail I’m guessing you’re taking about the handguard. There isn’t a way to attach a light directly to it. You need a certain type of mount or just straight up duct tape one on as far as I know
@derek54633 жыл бұрын
Nice rifle but you have an a2 handle on the a1 rifle
@shockwave._.80983 жыл бұрын
No the carry handle is a1
@derek54633 жыл бұрын
@@shockwave._.8098 that is actually a Canadian c7 upper because it uses the a1 sight and has a brass deflector. The a1 didn’t have the deflector

Old school, the way I like it, triditional iron sights. The younger generation is into all these fancy optics, when SHTF And that stuff brakes, then what?
@supermoon14304 жыл бұрын
I’ve got nothing wrong with iron sights they are tough and good but modern optics are pretty tough to and adding flip up back up sights is cheap and doesn’t weigh anything really both are good options just down to preference
