Retro Collection Dark Times Darth Vader cape upgrade - Toy Polloi

Welcome to Toy Polloi Two. I've been holding off buying the Retro Collection Dark Time Darth Vader from Obi-Wan Kenobi as I just didn't think it looked very good. It turns out that this can easily be fixed by replacing the cape with a custom version I made over on Toy Polloi.
Simply replacing the cape makes this figure look so much better. I wish Hasbro had put more effort into these figures.

The reason I bought this figure was because it had the soft goods cape. I can't believe how much better it looks with the cape you made compared to the cape they made from the factory. It goes back to what people have been saying for a while now. Right now the fans are doing the best work. That's not a dig on old school figures of any specific line. Star Wars, transformers, or anything else. It's just that something this simple can take a figure that looks good, to man that looks really good. ( Not that the cape you made was simple Dave. I watched the video when you made it. I saw the work you put in to it). However for the money they charge nowadays. This is what it should have looked like from the start. Anyways Rant over 😂. Honestly I didn't mind the Retro Collection Dark Time Darth Vader at all, it looked to me like an updated version that Kenner might have released around the time of RotJ. Your cape upgrade is very nice and better than what was provided but I can live contently with the one provided given that I have zero practical crafting skills. Despite my lack of crafting skills I do always enjoy your videos, keep it up and best wishes from the Yorkshire branch of the Toy Polloi Appreciation Society.

Or just skip the Hasbro version and get the Stan Solo one instead. Granted it doesn't have the helmet with red lenses,it does a removable helmet instead.

The skirt is built into the legs so it would look odd adding a skirt on top of a skirt I think?

@@ToyPolloiTwo Of course. while I'd clocked the differently moulded legs, I failed to make that connection! Looks much improved with the cape!
