I'm been playing Retro/Nostalgia video games more than Triple AAA Video Games. AAA Video Game Industry keeps on disappointing and seeing the layoffs, etc is not surprising.

Triple A doesn't equal quality...and that's sad/pathetic. These companies are making the same mistakes that Atari did back during the 1980s crash.

They need to scale back but I have a feeling that they will eventually. My reasoning is becausee the highest-end graphics processor on the market today that can be used for games is coming close to the limit of power draw in the average US household. Other regions have a slightly higher limit but the US is the biggest market. This might sound strange so far but hear me out. Now, gpu's can make great strides in power efficiency as we keep moving onto new generations of chips. So the power draw limit isn't exactly a brick wall but it will slow things down drastically. Despite that, power draw in consoles have risen as the chips get more refined and they pack the software with more features. So what could happen is this.... Consoles eventually hit a power limit and they focus on power efficiency, meaning we see less graphical leaps from generation to generation. Then, publishers realise they can't make these big bloated, AAA experiences at all anymore because the graphics wont be fresh enough pull people in and cover costs. So they will eventually seek developers who have more talent in game and level design than artists. Then when games are released, even marketing will be focusing more on unique gameplay features as opposed to just "Look, pretty game!". Throw into the mix that big budget live service titles could fizzle out as well for mostly the same reasons. In the end, we will have shorter and more fun games. Now that was an optimistic look at things, but I do have a counter argument to my own argument that is less so. Do you know what platform is already full of low-budget games that are hindered by small improvements in graphics tech due to power draw limits right now?..... Mobile Games. So the flip side is that we get this similar idea where publishers look to make games cheaper but instead of pooling recources in fun game designers, they will pool them into behavioral psychologists, legal experts. Then we will end up with cheaply made games, with predatory monetary systems packed with microtransactions in order to eke out the most money possible without blatantly breaking the law. However, I am not sure if this second theory would actually help console manufacturers like Sony and Xbox even sell their console. On mobile it works because everyone has a phone. However if you remove the idea of consoles then it would work. (This would also explain why MS are leaning into cloud and the idea of Xbox being an app that is on multiple devices).

As a new Subscribers, I prefer playing Retro/Indie/Eastern Games than most Triple AAA games. That saying something that Triple-A games keep on getting boring and ugly. In fact that this generation of Gaming is nothing more than a DEI-Fest.

Limitations made games better in my opinion. I can't help but feel that as game tech advances, games get more shallow feeling. The bugets are stupid right now because fidelity and performance are focused on rather than a game actually being fun. Devs need to understand GAMES AREN'T MOVIES!!! I don't need to see every individual hair follicle on a characters ass in every video game. Prioritizing graphics makes development time increase to stupid lengths (5+ years), budget increases to stupid levels, and this limits actual gameplay capabilities.
